A Texas Democrat pictured prominently without a mask on a private jet last week fleeing to Washington, D.C. is now calling for universal face coverings regardless of vaccination status after she and five others in the group tested positive for COVID-19.

'We need to follow the science here,' Texas Representative Donna Howard tweeted Wednesday. 'Texas needs to change course and allow for universal mask-wearing to prevent spread of the highly contagious delta variant, esp as children under 12 cannot get vaccinated yet.'

Another one of the runaway Democrats announced Tuesday she is running for Congress against Republican incumbent Beth Van Duyne, who represents congressional district 24, which falls between Dallas and Fort Worth.

I don’t think a $200 a night hotel is what it once was.

I used to get rooms at Best Western etc. in the $50-60 range even in New Orleans and then that edged up to $80 (and more with tax) and even $117 etc.

Short notice booking can sometimes get you a better rate and other times full fare.

When I stayed in Green Bay WI (casino) and Brooklyn NY (Holiday Inn) it was upwards of $200 a day/night (about a decade ago).

Other than an angry look or a frustrated "huff", I've not received a cogent response to my observation that if a vaccinated person feels the need to wear a mask (setting aside the fact that a mask is completely, totally, 100% ineffective in controlling transmission of a respiratory virus), then they clearly do not believe that the vaccine they have moving around in their blood really doesn't protect them -- not really. Either that or they must believe the vaccine only works if they wear a mask ... and if I wear a mask when around them ... to which I add, "Some 'vaccine', huh?"

(Gets 'em every time. This 55-year EHS professional with many years of hands-on experience with PPE sees right through all of this .... all of it!)
