The EABO concept was developed with an eye toward potential conflict scenarios with China in the Western Pacific. Under the concept, the Marine Corps envisions, among other things, having reinforced-platoon-sized Marine Corps units maneuver around the theater, moving from island to island, to fire anti-ship cruise missiles (ASCMs) and perform other missions so as to contribute, alongside Navy and other U.S. military forces, to U.S. operations to counter and deny sea control to Chinese forces. The LAW ships would be instrumental to these operations, with LAWs embarking, transporting, landing, and subsequently reembarking these small Marine Corps units.
As conceived by the Navy and Marine Corps, LAWs would be much smaller and individually much less expensive to procure and operate than the Navy’s current amphibious ships. The Navy estimates that the first LAW would cost about $156 million to procure, and that subsequent LAWs would cost about $130 million each to procure.

I just wonder how they keep the rudders and screws from getting beat up and get a dry ramp on anything approaching a shallow gradient? Love to see some pictures
I saw an old one at a VFW several years ago and the rudder seemed to go up into the boat itself when it hit ground. As for the screws, I think they/it was on a folding gimbal and went up also.
But I did not see this in operation, so I cannot swear to that.
These ships are a transgender’s dream. They want Gilligan’s Island around every corner.
But that name: LIGHT Amphibious Warship.
Exemplifies Supremacy.
Change to Dark Amphibious Warship.
It’s good to see us focused on the real enemy and the likely scenario. Any land war in Europe needs to be handled by the Germans and French and the rest of NATO firs, we’ve paid our dues there; China, however is on the rise and utterly convinced they should be the sole superpower.
This is exactly the kind of thinking and implementing we need to be doing.
The requirement is for a 10,000 ton LPD.
We used to have dozens of them.
But USN inflated the platform to the 25,000 ton San Antonio class and we’ll probably build only 4-5 of those.
By the time government contracting is done, it will be ten times the original size, with experimental turbines burning cooking grease or some such that will never work.
A reinforced platoon, bouncing from island to island, shooting missiles to deny China control of sea lanes.
This is their plan.
Our military is no longer serious, and is fully in the stranglehold of defense contractors.
Each ship will come already leaning to Port
A platoon is about 20-30 men. How effective is that going to be?
Oh sooooo true.
From the pictures it looks a lot smaller. More like the LST’s I served on.
A platoon is about 20-30 men. How effective is that going to be?>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Highly effective for the transgender crowd.
They can party float their way into waving the white flag and then rise up to infect the enemy with STDs?
Change to Dark Amphibious Warship.>>>>>>>>
Lets be accurate now,
Change to Dark Transphibious Wokeship.
