My bad. I thought I had read Toyota had converted the Prius to full electric.

In truth, last time I personally checked anything on a Prius it was the oil, but that was while ago.

My ex biz partner bought a couple as company cars when the green incentives were running hot. Really disliked mine so I have not really followed the Prius world. The newer Teslas are really impressive and am actually seriously considering one as my next personal car.

I admit I did laugh when I saw your original post, because it’s the kind of mistake I understand.

Personally, I wouldn’t even give a Prius the time of day, simply because from day one I viewed them as a “soy boy” car or such...and took great joy in the concept of slapping a bumper sticker on the back of a Prius (especially one owned by some unsuspecting virtue-signaling Leftist POS) that said “This Prius is a Nuclear and Oil Powered Car!” and watching their head explode.

But...having so little interest in them except as a foil to ridicule Leftists, I was ignorant of them. I know all Prius owners aren’t Lefty Virtue Signalers, just the same as all Subaru owners aren’t lesbians but...that doesn’t stop me from laughing at the stereotype. Thing is, I was ignorant of the car, and when I saw your post, I shrugged and thought “Eh. Figures” but I would have been wrong too.

I will say-I am not anti-electric anything. I think pursuing electric aircraft would be pretty cool, especially for our military which would help them sneak up on their foes the way a Prius might sneak up and squash some crosswalk nazi who wouldn’t hear it coming and leap out of the way.

But I take that viewpoint on the basis of merit alone.

When I can drive an electric car from here to Florida, stopping every 400-500 miles (with the heater in February or the AC in July) and fully charge it in a half hour...and can get it at a reasonable price and can charge it at home-I’ll do it. I’ll buy one as my primary car. No question.

But I expect it will take a breakthrough in battery technology or room temperature superconductors to do that, both of which might be possible someday.

But if someone gave me a Tesla Model S today, I wouldn’t throw it out of bed for eating crackers in the rack!
