We’re in a weird, twisted place as a country where far too many people like to make a big deal out of what they don’t like or what they don’t care about. Last year was rough, so I can understand being a little negative, but I think it’s starting to get a bit pathological.
It’s been popular this summer to hate on the Olympics. And yes, anybody who hits social media to make a public proclamation that they don’t care about the Olympics is, in fact, hating on them. People who really don’t care about things don’t mention them.
It’s true that there have been a few U.S. athletes who have tried to ruin the games, but I prefer to let them remain nameless, annoying, and thus far, losers.
There are a lot of good American Olympians who are worth paying attention to and cheering for. As I wrote in my Morning Briefing a couple of weeks ago, we shouldn’t ignore them because of the bad seeds.
I mentioned hurdler Sydney McLaughlin as one of my favorites of this U.S. Olympic team. She runs the 400-meter hurdles and set a new world record at the U.S. Olympic Trials in June. Her teammate Dalilah Muhammad held the two previous world records. The two push each other to new bests and that was what track fans were expecting Tuesday night in the Olympic women’s 400-meter hurdles finals.
They didn’t disappoint:
Unbelievable! Sydney just gets faster and faster! ⚡

In other good news the America hater Gwen Berry who turned her back on the flag finished next to last in her heat.
She finished 11 of 12. She finished 2 spots ahead of me as I finished 13 of 12 and didn’t even bother showing up.
All the best to Sydney!
But the Olympics, NFL, and MLB can (insert crude metaphor).
Both long-hurdle races have entered a new world, hardly recognizable and very exciting. Sidney and Dalilah are great ambassadors in this strange land.
Should’ve painted her hair to draw more attention./s
Watched this last night....they had a feed from her old high school- Union Catholic. It was packed.
In the front was a older grey haired woman wearing a Union Catholic shirt and waving an American flag- it had to be a Nun.
Later they showed Sydney the film from Union Catholic. She said, “I seen see my principal (had to be the Nun), I can see my old track coach.”
BTW- Sydney is gorgeous.
BTW- should also add, Sydney was very good but became great when she recently moved to LA and trained under Bob Kersee (Jackie-Joyners husband who also trained Flo-Jo)
Wonderful....God bless her!!
Congratulations….to a fine athlete and human being…
Not Guilty !!
BTW- Sydney is gorgeous.........understatement of the year
I was at the watch party…both my kids graduated from Union Catholic. You r correct, the lady is Principal Percy Lee. I talked to her afterward and she said Sydney has a global platform to talk about the greatness of God…that talk left an impression on me on how maybe this is God’s will.
BTW, the watch party was electric and an incredible atmosphere…so happy she won!
I’m jealous!!! Sounds like fun!! And as a graduate of Catholic school for 17 years (grammar/HS/college) I could not be happier.
BTW- where were you?? And what do you look like?? I’m sure i’ll be watching that video over and over.
Post #12. Found your girlfriend, Impy. If you don’t want her, I’ll take her. ;-D
Couldn’t help but notice all the white supremacists rooting her on from 2020:

We are seeing a lot of good Americans at these Games - unfortunately, a small number of racial agitators soaked up most of the pre-Olympic headlines and poisoned public opinion.
