Future Sea Level Rise: What Are We Missing, and How Much Should It Scare Us?
scitechdaily ^ | AUGUST 9, 2021 | EARTH INSTITUTE AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY

Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory... say researchers examining signs of past sea levels along various coasts may have failed to accurately correct for long-term ups and downs of the land itself. Based on newly sophisticated measurements made across the Bahamas along with new methods of analyzing data, the researchers produced lower—though still daunting—estimates for the last interglacial. They say seas peaked at least 1.2 meters (4 feet) higher than today—roughly in line with most current models for the next 100 years of so. However, they say, levels could have been higher. An unlikely upper limit, they say, is 5.3 meters (17 feet).

...[A]s ice sheets build, they depress the land beneath them. The ice that covered northern North America during the last glaciation up to around 15,000 years ago squashed the land down hundreds of meters. But the Earth is elastic: What goes down in one place goes up someplace else, like when you squeeze a rubber ball or an inner tube. These corollary deformations outside the icy regions are still poorly understood; they may creep for hundreds or thousands of miles over hundreds or thousand of years. They move mainly in the pliable mantle, some 100 to 1,000 kilometers down, before bulging back on the surface. Then, when the ice melts, the process goes in reverse; previously ice-covered regions rebound, while those on the fringes sink, in slow seesaw fashion.

...[S]uch movements, known as glacial isostatic rebound, can skew estimates of past water levels...For instance, previous studies have suggested that topographic ripples from North America’s glaciations have traveled down the U.S. East Coast and reached all the way to the Bahamas archipelago. This pushed the islands upward when the ice was high, and slowly eased them back down when the ice melted.

Hussein Obama obviously isn't worried. This is his multi-million dollar seaside mansion...

Proof that crime DOES pay.

The answer to a rising sea level has always been feet.

If you’re standing on the shore and you feet start getting wet, walk uphill.

Can we get cheaper seafront properties yet?

“If you’re standing on the shore and you feet start getting wet, walk uphill.”

Which even humans in the Stone Age figured out without being told! As for rising sea levels, they may rise or they may not, but the pictures taken a century apart at the G-7 at Cornwall show they are pretty much the same now as in the 1920s.

And then there is the Broomway in England. It is a path that is flooded by the tide twice a day. Can be deadly if the rising tide catches you. It has been in use this way as a public right of way for something like 700 years...

I think it is far more likely, albeit still remote in the next 100 years, that a severe earthquake split along one of the major faults will make a 0.5” average (if that) yearly rise in sea levels rather pointless except from a political standpoint.

I recently saw picture of some place near the ocean. One from now and one from like 50 years ago. The coast line looks Identical. Even though everything is already supposed be under water. How much of NYC has gone underwater in the last 50 years. The truth is the Global warming people just make everything up.

Job 38:1-11: Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm. He said:

2 “Who is this that obscures my plans
with words without knowledge?
3 Brace yourself like a man;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.

4 “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
Tell me, if you understand.
5 Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?
6 On what were its footings set,
or who laid its cornerstone—
7 while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels[a] shouted for joy?

8 “Who shut up the sea behind doors
when it burst forth from the womb,
9 when I made the clouds its garment
and wrapped it in thick darkness,
10 when I fixed limits for it
and set its doors and bars in place,
11 when I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther;
here is where your proud waves halt’?

Future Sea Level Rise: What Are We Missing, and How Much Should It Scare Us?

We know the government has been telling us most of my adult life that there is a wolf out there and the sky is falling. The people in government have allayed my fears, though, by appointing commissions to study the problems and offer band-aids. If the government just issues water wings for all of us, we should be okay.

They may have to force 25 to 40 percent of the population into those wings, but it will be for their own good.

How much should it scare us? Since it is a lie, none.

They’re installing the Vineyard Wind Farm nearby to blow the sea back away from the Obama compound. Otherwise, Obama wouldn’t risk it.

O my goodness! Manmade global warming is also causing the level of the Bow River to rise, even though we're well over 1,000 miles from the ocean! Or, it could just be hydroelectric dams releasing water.

In any event WE MUST PANIC!

There are plenty of functional 50 and 60 year old piers on the ocean with pilings still at the original depth.

What’s laughable to me is that the earth’s environment has constantly changed forever and any dangerous, drastic, significant, noticeable change in temperature, sea level, ice accumulation or reduction will take so much time that everyone here worrying about it will be nothing but dust...LOL

The commie left wants to keep everyone in a constant state of fear. Everything they’ve said over many, many decades have been proven to be lies.

In 1986, the Environmental Protection Agency’s Jim Titus predicted that the sea level around Florida would rise two feet by 2020, The Miami Herald reported.

...they just make it up...

You got that right. Then they stick out their hands and say, "Pay me!"

Get a load of this from the piece:
the warm temperatures of the last interglacial were slowly produced by variations in Earth’s orientation to the sun over thousands of years, and may not have affected both poles simultaneously.

So then Dr. Hem asked Dr. Haw: "Huh, what? You mean the earth wasn't in orbit in those days? Didn't the North pole present itself toward the sun half the year and the South Pole for the other half? Well, that would explain a lot."

So Dr. Haw goes: "Well, maybe it did and maybe it didn't. Do we still get paid?"

The biggest problem with sea level rise is that coastal people moving inland will shift the balance, and all the continents will tip over.

It will be ocean world with upside-down continents.

The ice that covered northern North America during the last glaciation up to around 15,000 years ago squashed the land down hundreds of meters.

15,000 years ago most of North America was under ice. Over time the earth’s climate warmed (global warming) and for the most part every human on earth were still in the hunter / gathering life style, not a automobile in sight!

Few would deny that the earth’s climate changes, the objection is to claim humans are the cause. Man made global warming is a lie that is being used to control us and that is all.
