Caffeine is a stimulant. Drinking caffeinated drinks at night offsets a normal a normal sleep/wake cycle.

Different chemicals do different things to different people.

If I need a energy jolt I have a cup of ginseng and that seems to clear out the cobwebs.

I do drink coffee and tea but for pleasure.
