There are a lot of parallels. Have you ever read “Propaganda” by Bernays? I think it was written in the late 20’s and it explained how the combination of bacon and eggs became popular (something to do with having a lot of pork bellies that they couldn’t sell or something). The book was available for free online a couple of years ago and it was a fast and interesting read. Anyway, I got pretty annoyed with myself for having been so easily manipulated as demonstrated by the methods outlined in the book. It’s nice to have exposure to different worldviews now that we have the web.

The grocery store shelves, especially the local Walmart here where I live in the small city of Rome, New York have been empty long before the virus even reached these shores. The Walmart here has been the worse, having empty shelves for at least the past three years. When I go there, I always feel like they're having a going-out-of-business sale. They stopped stocking a lot of brand named items...canned goods specifically, in order to sell their Great-Value products. I used to buy the DAK canned hams in the store. Now they no longer offer them, and if you want to buy them from Walmart online, you have to buy a three-pack. I live alone, and don't need to buy three canned hams for myself. Last Christmas I needed creamed corn to make a casserole, and all Walmart had was their own brand, and only the small cans. They had no other brand available, and none in the 15 oz. size that I needed. I ended up hunting them down at another grocery store. Just the other day I wanted to get a small jar of soy sauce, and all they had was the humongous size, so I passed.

Several products I can't find in the store, but are listed on their website, can't be ordered online, because they claim they are available at my local store, but they aren't stocked there. I've complained to the manager, but it's done no good. Over the past 6-8 months, bacon, and pork sausage products are extremely hard to get. Even Great-Value's large container of whipped cream cheese hasn't been available at the local store for months, or the other two Walmarts in my area. I've ended up having to buy a different brand because they didn't even have the small container size in stock.

Poor people get food stamps or ebt cards. It is going to really hurt the taxpayers that have to feed their own families and also have to feed those ebt cards. Keep in mind that we have over a million coming in from the southern border and a bunch coming in from Afghanistan. We pay for FREE everything for all of them.

Crop subsidies, crop insurance, the “Conservation Reserve Program”, and “crop advisory boards”/USDA (cherries, raisins, milk etc.) cause crop destruction...along with last year’s lock-downs on restaurants:

Wow. The closest town to me has a population of 2,000. The local supermarket has every product imaginable (many of which I haven’t seen before because we moved from the desert to TN. Wal Mart (12 miles away) was short on paper products at the beginning of the pandemic, but only runs low on certain items periodically and usually has a selection of alternatives. We do seem to have a lot of truck drivers who are actively employed; maybe that has something to do with it. Funny you should mention it, but I was looking for a little can of creamed corn recently and they only had big ones. Go figure.

Everyone should be prepared for food or other shortages regardless of what this person in this video says. It is just the small thing to do.

You're welcome. It's not just us; Great Britain and probably everybody else. I wonder if the Chicoms thought of all of the unforseen consequences of letting the virus spread. They'll go down the tubes with the rest of us.

Are you able to get what you need at other stores in your area?

I'll always believe it was done deliberately. The Chinese leaders don't care how many of their people die. They are collateral damage. Now I see they are allowing families to have three children. Must be they discovered that the number of peasants got too low.

There's one food item that I have not been able to find for over a month now. That is Johnsonville Honey & Brown Sugar breakfast sausage links. Walmart is the only store that carries that specific type. The last time I found them I bought three packages and stuck them in my freezer, because they've been so hard to get. I cooked the last two links a couple of days ago. The package expiration date was May 24, 2021, so that tells you how long ago I bought them.

I called Johnsonville to let them know that their product wasn't available. All they told me was that I should talk to the manager of the meat department at Walmart, so I tried calling, and after being connected to to that department, it just rang, and rang...so I hung up. Johnsonville's website says the Honey & Brown Sugar links are supposed to be sold at my local Price Chopper grocery store, but I've never seen them there. So when I go there today, I'm going to try to talk to whoever orders the stuff to see why the website shows they're supposed to have them, but don't. They have other sausages by Johnsonville, Bob Evans, Jimmy Dean, etc., but those are my favorite, because of the flavors. I've found no other brand that makes a honey and brown sugar sausage link. Call me spoiled, but at 74, I know what I like, and don't like having to settle for something I really don't want to buy. That's one of the reasons why I won't use online ordering for my groceries. I don't want anyone else picking out my bacon for me. I'm picky about that too. I like my bacon lean, and wouldn't trust a store clerk to make sure the package I got had more meat than fat in it.

When I was a child, the Sunday magazine section of the paper had a story about people in the Soviet Union standing on line for hours at a butcher shop to get inferior cuts of meat. That will cause practically anybody to thank God for the availability we usually have!

I read that the ChiCom's one-child policy resulted in the murder or abandonment of female children because males were much more valued in that culture. Now, there is a tremendous surplus of extremely depressed males who are committing suicide rather than spend their lives alone in forced labor at factories and such. The remaining females are suddenly valued. The ChiComs don't seem to learn.

I was born in 1947, and remember hearing about the bread lines in the U.S.S.R. I remember seeing Khruschev on TV when he came to the U.S., and how he said communism would bury this country. He got ticked because they wouldn't let him go to Disneyland.

A lot of people don't know that Great Britain, after WWII ended, continued the rationing of food until 1954. And despite the fact that the U.K. depended so much on overseas food imports during WWI, they did nothing to alleviate that before WWII rolled around. They were still reliant on imports.

During WWII, Stalin ordered the end of production of farm machinery/equipment, and required factories to produce nothing but equipment for the war. Farmers were at a loss to successfully grow the grain and vegetables needed to feed the nation. That's why so many Russians starved to death.
