THE Delta variant strain of Covid-19 is causing a severe uptick in infection cases throughout the United States.
The highly-contagious variant is accounting for over 80 percent of the nation's Covid-19 cases, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data.
How do they test for the Covid-19 Delta variant? Although there is no specific test for the Delta variant, it’s likely a positive Covid-19 result indicates you could be infected with the variant, according to Human and Health Services of Texas.
The reason is because the majority of Covid cases in the United States are the Delta variant.
Damn good question. Some of us have wondered about this for some time now.
LOL — Good one!
Everything since Dec 2019 has been a WAG:
Wild Ass Guess
My favorite part of this article and many others is the part where they effin “deem” something exists...

Zactly
What effin boo chitt...
I heard today 3 friends have Delta.
No
Freakin
Way
No one is testing for it anymore than they ever really tested for flu...
What I was told is that they take a small random sampling of the positive tests and run the DNA tests on those. Based on that they interpolate what that equals in terms of a percentage.
Not to be confused with SWAG (Scientific Wild Ass Guess).
magic 8 ball...
Genetic sequence tests and then statistical extrapolation. Example, take 100 samples, sequence them, see that 70 of them are Delta, and conclude 70% of infections are Delta.
Lambda now in LA. From south america i beleive. There isn’t even a test for the wuhan CCP flu yet. Except for antibodies after you get it.
I’m thinking they determine the variant with a method similar to that used in the South Park Margaritaville episode. They take a chicken...
It has always been a guess and sold as “science”. Plenty of Freeper scientists on here.
Medical – Sterile.
* For anal specimen collection.
* 6" length for deep penetration.
* 2 per sealed pouch.
They don't even have a valid test for covid!
“The reason is because the majority of Covid cases in the United States are the Delta variant.”
But how do they know?
Delta spike has 20 mutations that differentiate it from wild (Wuhan original) virus
The easiest way to identify Delta is looking for the D950N mutation, which is unique to Delta

What test[s] are they using to ID the virus?
You aren't legally allowed to know which variant gave you COVID-19 in the US, even if it's Delta
Most people with COVID-19 in the US are legally prevented from knowing which variant infected them.
That's because sequencing tests have to be federally approved for results to be disclosed to doctors or patients, and most are not yet.
Lab scientists say the process of validating the tests for approval is too costly and time-consuming.
