Natural immunity from previous infection (or at least immunity from a vaccine in which antibodies were generated against multiple viral proteins instead of just the spike protein) would provide significantly better protection against these variants than the current mRNA-based spike protein vaccines.

What’s worse than Armageddon? Oh yeah; A Superspreader Armageddon that gives the victim hiccups for a week but only those who’ve gotten the previous gene therapy shots.

OFGS. As viruses mutate, they become more contagious (transmissible) but LESS deadly. Not more deadly.

The reason is simple -- a virus that kills its host doesn't survive to replicate as well as a virus that keeps its host alive to spread the virus further. Successful viruses don't kill. Those that kill a high percentage of hosts tend to not spread far, they burn themselves out. See Ebola.

So -- More rapid spread does not make it more deadly, it only means more people get it per unit time.
