Just dropped my crocheted afghan off at the Iowa County Fair! Looking good for a second Blue Ribbon as so far I'm the only crocheted afghan entered! I'm calling it 'Lakota Dreams.' The colors were inspired by a Native American blanket I saw in a magazine. This photo seems a little washed out; the colors are much more rich in Real Life. Anyhow, it's out of my hands, now. Entries will be accepted until 8pm tonight and judging is already tomorrow, about 10am. I am going to the fair on Monday (Labor Day) because that's when Mom wants to go, and I can also pick up my entry after 3:30pm as the fair winds down for the year. I saw the canned goods already entered - my Dilly Beans are MUCH prettier than those entered, so next year I may venture into, 'The Realm of Canned Vegetables' for even more giggles. ;)

For this “Labor” Day holiday weekend, I decided I would do something I really hate ... sew in all the loose ends on my 24 pairs of finger-less mittens. The mittens have been my COVID sanity project this year - sitting in the porch swing, listening to podcasts, enjoying being outside & knitting mittens.

Thus far, I have gotten ends woven in on 14 pairs. Whew. One pair is already spoken for .... chemo mitts for someone newly diagnosed. This is the 3rd pair ... for some reason, it seems my niece’s friends are all coming down with breast cancer. I need to send them to her in about a week, so that was the impetus to get busy sewing in the ends on that particular pair & I decided to keep on going & get it over with for the rest of them. I was also dog sitting this weekend & the pay was a very decent bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon - ‘sipping’ helps the sewing seem less onerous.😊

Getting all the mittens totally completed has been a major “to do” list item hanging over my head so I’m actually feeling pretty good about the progress that’s been made this weekend.
