...she is a whistleblower who sent suspicious activity reports to BuzzFeed News after trying in vain to work through lawful channels. Her actions became the basis for the global FinCEN Files investigation.

They also described her disclosures as “unparalleled in FinCEN’s history,” having sent approximately 50,000 documents, including 2,000 SARs, to Leopold over the course of a year and running searches within internal systems at his request.

"She was arrested on October 16, 2018, for disclosing over 2000 suspicious activity reports (SARs) and other confidential information from October 2017 to October 2018 detailing Russia's involvement in the 2016 presidential election to a reporter with BuzzFeed News, which published the series "The Money Trail".

The SARs included money transfers and information about Maria Butina, Rick Gates, Paul Manafort, the Russian Embassy in the United States, and a Russian firm, Prevezon Alexander, LLC., involved with money laundering." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natalie_Edwards

And Lois Lerner...NOTHING?

Right this moment, a whistleblower IS NOT sitting in prison for leaking the SAR reports on the Clinton Climinal Cartel, CHICOM and Ukrainian payments to Hunter Biden, and about 5000 other usual suspects in the RAT party.

This article had the potential to garner a lot of sympathy for this woman had they given some details. It states she tried to go through proper channels. What did she try? It would have been great if the writer had given a small outline of the corruption she uncovered. They assume you will just take their word there was corruption and she tried to expose it legally. Sorry I don't trust anyone enough to take their word anymore, show me the beef!

Interesting.

Based on this story and Buzzfeed's "reputation", suspect Edwards is a Leftist that selectively leaked SARs that would negatively reflect on Trump and support the Russia, Russia, Russia narrative, expecting a pass from the Deep State Bureaucracy, and she didn't get one because Russia, Russia, Russia collapsed and exposed the Deep Swamp.

Edwards is the Swamp's distraction Patsy.

Natalie Edwards’ conviction is stark evidence that justice is not a consideration in the federal legal system.

Why not sprinkle a little in this article? Your average reader is not willing to go back and do your research for you.

I don't know Buzzfeed's politics, but this is written as what I call a typical "leftist" article - highly emotive and subjective, strong on using anecdote and feeling as fact - what some call "narrative journalism."

It spent many paragraphs confirming the supposed injustice of her sentence, the effect on her family, even what she ate for dinner - but literally ONE SENTENCE on her crime

Edwards....revealed how banks file SARs and then continue to process and profit off suspicious payments, thereby facilitating criminal activity while enriching themselves and shareholders. The US government collects the SARs, but does not force the banks to shut the money laundering down.

I am not an expert in SAR or Treasury money laundering, but I assume "suspicious" is just that - nothing is proven, so the banks turn it over to the authorities to investigate. This article deals NOTHING with the objective facts of this case.

That’s kind of the way I read it. Did she only became interested in justice and leaking documents if it could hurt Trump. If so, I hope they keep her ass in jail.

The article is a hagiography.
They’re nominating her for the Left’s Martyr of the Year award, figuring to get kudos for finding her.

From the links, I’d estimate a few hour’s reading to get the background details.

I am sorry. The comment was not directed at you personally but rather at lazy journalists that expect you to know what they are talking about rather than include some probable cause for you to believe what they are saying.

SARs are run on anyone who moves $10,000 out of a bank in some form that is a transaction not normal for an account. They are also run on people who pull much less out. Banks are allowed to ask you what you want to do with your money and if they don't get a “good” response, they can do SAR

conspiracy to make unauthorized disclosures of suspicious activity reports, also known as SARs.

A delayed victim of the SARs epidemic?

The “beef” you seek is in the links at the end of the article.

I looked at the links, and they confirmed my suspicions. Buzzfeed is highly invested in the Edwards leaks.

I read the links - they say NOTHING except that money-laundering exists and there are tens of thousands of suspicious activity reports generated. Indeed, just as with most police work, very few can be fully investigated. Otherwise, what is the point of this crap article?

Edwards imagined herself a hero, leaked to them, and they are running a series of sensationalist "stories" about money-laundering, hoping to generate tumult. This is highly subjective journalism, typical of the Hollywood-style "narrative journalism" that is the bane of US media today

Please read this below article. It describes exactly the situation Buzzfeed has given us.

ROLLING STONE AND THE TEMPTATIONS OF NARRATIVE JOURNALISM
