Keep in mind natural immunity will prompt mutations as well.

Welcome to Earth.

It can fester and mutate in the animules as well.

This an opinion, or do you have anything to support your assertion?

“Keep in mind natural immunity will prompt mutations as well.”

Yes, that’s why viruses are different now than they were 100 years ago, or even a couple of years ago. But natural immunity militates against the whole virus, and potentially recognize multiple surface features that are unique to it. The more of those features there are, the less likely a mutation would be present that lacks all of them.

The vaccines for Covid all focus on just the spike protein, and, I think, just a single epitope on it. That makes it more likely for a mutation to emerge that evades the immune response.

Yes, one of the several things few really talk about. This virus can live in many different mammals. It could jump species, mutate, and jump species again and again.

Natural immunity is best overall as the body will learn many ways to attack it - not just by identifying the S-protein. So it can mutate, and those infected and recovered are likely to have broader protection against superficial mutations.

Not nearly as much as “leaky vaccines” do.
