The New Orleans Saints have had eight members of the organization test positive for COVID-19, calling into question their status for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The total includes six offensive coaches, one player and a nutritionist, according to a source.
The Saints placed wide receiver Michael Thomas on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday. Thomas, who is currently on the physically unable to perform list, is not eligible to return to practice until Week 7 at the earliest. Thomas has been doing his rehab in Fort Worth, Texas with the team, which has been practicing at TCU's facility after being displaced by Hurricane Ida
For now, the entire team is operating under the NFL's enhanced mitigation protocols, meaning mandatory masking inside facilities, daily testing, no in-person meetings and grab-and-go meals.
If they are asymptomatic, vaccinated players and personnel can return when they provide two negative test results 24 hours apart, per NFL protocols. Unvaccinated players and personnel who test positive must isolate for at least 10 days.
Saints coach Sean Payton said during the summer that the team's coaching and personnel staffs were 100% vaccinated.
The Saints play Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. They played their Week 1 home opener at Jacksonville's TIAA Bank Field, beating the Green Bay Packers 38-3.

Ping me if they are in the hospital or have been on a ventilator.
or OD on horse paste.
I was one of 78,000 unmasked fans at the Chiefs game on Sunday.
My guess is that we are going to have outbreaks just like the flu which has gone away in America. what happened to the Flu?
Where did the Flu go?
The Clown Show of the Vaccinated continues.
They must have gotten sick beating up on the Packers this past Sunday
We get Democrats in control, and just like that, no more riots or kneeling.
So sad. Now they’ll get paid umteen million dollars for doing nothing while we wait to see if they survive.
Horse paste is only approved for the Colts and Broncos.
but not the cowboys huh?
I asked this very question to a nurse friend of mine. Her answer was that because more of us were wearing masks last year and beginning of this year we did not have a flu outbreak. Of course she doesn’t see how silly that argument is seeing how people still got covid while we were wearing masks.
Is it covid-19, delta variant or the new Mu variant?
Oh that’s right. The tests don’t give any information like that. Might just be the flu.
I know this will be controversial on FR. I have known one person who had bad Covid. He is very obese and had to be on a ventilator when he caught in July 2020. He was out for six months, but did come back from the wuhan virus six months later.
I am fully vaxxed, because I trust Trump.
Thank goodness they were vaccinated and were immune. Can you imagine how many of them would have gotten COVID? /s
You aren’t alone. Some of us decided a long time ago, it wasn’t worth an argument.

and in the process he proceeded to open the border and spread hundreds of thousands of disease carrying invaders across our country during a “global pandemic”...
everything changed after biden and the demonrats stole the 2020 election...
