The chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff is not the military advisor to the Secretary of Defense. He’s the military advisor to the President of the United States.
Milley’s call is enough that he should be released for cause immediately.

Thank you for that.
Those two may have been the only two of the seven other officers that may have heard the critical portion of Milley's telephone chat (i.e., the reported assurance Milley would provide advance notice of any U.S. strike).
Let's hope the two reacted promptly and are not now just trying to salvage what they can of their careers.
One wonders what result where any Chief of Staff who can be charged with knowing of Milley's statement to the Chinese did not promptly step forward.
With Jack P.'s "two of seven" announcement one can also wonder whether given its current makeup our Joint Chiefs of Staff is even operable.
