The truth behind the Texas bridge migrants
While the president took a long weekend relaxing at the beach in Delaware, another self-imposed crisis blew up in his face.
The migrant shantytown under a concrete overpass in Del Rio, Texas, had ballooned to 15,000 souls, mainly Haitians. They were running out of food and water amid dangerously unsanitary conditions. With a pipeline of hundreds more flooding across the Rio Grande from Mexico every day, a humanitarian disaster was unfolding and the media were starting to pay attention.
On Wednesday, 9,000 had arrived. By Saturday, 6,000 more had crossed the river with no impediment. The border was wide open. There wasn’t even a sign to stop them.
They set up camp in the shade under the International Bridge and soon had overwhelmed the port-a-potties provided by authorities. They were sleeping on the ground under rough tents fashioned from sticks and trash bags, washing their clothes in the river.
The garbage piled up, and some of the migrants took to crossing back into Mexico to buy supplies.

Smile away Joe, the country you allegedly lead is being invaded. Will some of these invaders turn out to be violent criminals? Will more Americans suffer or die due to your demented policies? They will.
While I agree that Biden often doesn’t seem coordinated enough to ride a bike, I don’t see why they would have a “double” out doing this.
It’s terrible optics, esp. considering the admission about the family blown up in Kabul and the on-going Del Rio bridge mess (literally and figuratively).
Since Friday, 3,300 migrants have already been removed from the Del Rio camp to planes or detention centers, Border Patrol Chief Raul L. Ortiz said Sunday. He expected to have 3,000 of the approximately 12,600 remaining migrants moved within a day, and aimed for the rest to be gone within the week.
“We are working around the clock to expeditiously move migrants out of the heat, elements and from underneath this bridge to our processing facilities in order to quickly process and remove individuals from the United States consistent with our laws and our policies,” Ortiz said at news conference at the Del Rio bridge. The Texas city of about 35,000 people sits roughly 145 miles (230 kilometers) west of San Antonio.
Six flights were scheduled in Haiti on Tuesday — three in Port-au-Prince and three in the northern city of Cap-Haitien, said Jean Négot Bonheur Delva, Haiti’s migration director.
