It very commonly does. Anything that requires splinting or casting of the lower extremity is high risk for clots. So much so that people are often empirically put on blood thinners after such surgery
You are confused. blood clots if the embolize to the lungs can cause enough heart strain to bump the cardiac enzymes in the bloodstream. Not a heart attack but some would call it that because of the positive test. Leave the medicine to those that actually understand it

O.K. let’s say it was his lungs. Would surgery on the achilles heel area of the body cause DVT in the lungs? It makes no sense to me. But an injection of a slow motion death potion into the body and getting ino the bloodstream 8very well could. JMHO.
Last Friday, an acquaintance from my hometown suffered a heart attack. She is fully vaccinated and I have my suspicions.
Thankfully, she is better and is back home.
I’ve admittedly never heard about blood clotting problems caused by an Achilles tendon rupture. However, a few years before he died, my Dad broke his pelvis in a bicycle accident. Apparently, the docs gave him a prescription of anti-clotting medication to give to himself in once-daily injections over five days.
When Dad questioned the wisdom of that prescription, he was told that blood clots that formed in the vicinity of the break could detach and go to his lungs. And then, well, he would have passed a few years sooner than he did.
So it’s possible that a similar clotting risk could form with some other major problem like an Achilles tendon rupture, I suppose.
