What I don’t understand is how the high tech cars can be based on a battery design consisting of only 7,000 AA penlight batteries wired together with all those single point failures.

The basic battery design is no better than what is in my 25 year-old cordless drill.

I have no interest in electric cars, even my golf cart is gas. But I do share Elon's goal of expanding into space. He is the only American company or government entity capable of putting people in space. And if he is successful with Starship, that will change the game and future forever. If not for Elon, our only option would be to pay Russia and China to get us to space. Add to that, Elon has delivered on his government contracts like no one else has.

Another way to look at it is 7000 redundant cells. If one fails, 6999 still work.
