Looks like the cinder cone partially gave way and some pooled lava was released. Doesn’t really mean anything about the eruption itself.
Just a couple of days ago the entire side of the upper cinder cone that is behind the lava fountain (you are showing) disintegrated and did bury the fountain for a short time.
After the dust settled the camera view was of the fountain in the front, and 2 of the 3 gas jets (behind the fountain) shooting up to 700 meters high. It could not have been a better camera direction. Right into the mouth of the volcano. Amazing!

Re: Tsunami threat. So... when researching this I checked the eastern shore of South Carolina on google earth. There are chevron-shaped deposits going several miles inland. From where? Well, I ran the ruler from the center of the arc of several chevrons out from their focal point. Drawing it out it went to you guessed it -La Palma.
Now, consider this. The island is 100% volcanic origin sitting in 13,000’ of water. That means the volcano deposits are over 15,000’ high. Now, looking at the SW portion of La Palma the slopes are uncharacteristically steep. IOW, showing indications of previous slides, collapses.
Here is the interesting part I’m not seeing discussion on. How does a volcano collapse following an eruption? Is it a violent explosion like some theorize or an actual collapse into an empty magma chamber. If the latter how did the magma chamber empty out more than static pressure would cause it to? IOW the magma pressure is reduced then it just stops flowing. Well, if the magma chamber is under the ocean and vents into the ocean as the pressure in the chamber drops ocean water will flow in. This creates steam pressure, which re-pressurizes the magma causing more surface flow. This process repeats many times effectively ‘pumping’ the magma out of the magma chamber. This creates a large steam pressurized cavity. When there is no more magma coming into to maintain steam pressure the magma cavity collapses. The volcano above it collapses into the cavity of the empty magma chamber. IMO this is what happened in Santorini in Moses’ Biblical times. We know from the Bible the ash and smoke preceded the tidal wave that wiped out the chariots. Therefore the tidal wave was at the end of the eruption ergo it was the island collapsing into the empty magma chamber which was pumped out by seawater steam. Same process going on at La Palma. If it collapses it will be the land above sea level plus the land below it down 13,000+ into the empty magma chamber. That is a lot of mass to displace seawater. Ergo, a huge mass displacement tidal wave, ala Santorini.

Would not want to be on Manhattan when the thing co9llapses. No way to evac in time to avoid the tsunami.
Been watching this off and on since it started. These new developments seem to show there’s no sign of it stopping. It’s crazy to see the power.
