A former top FBI counterterrorism official said Brian Laundrie is likely hiding out somewhere he is “being taken care of” — and isn’t camping in the vast Florida nature reserve where the manhunt is focused.
Terry Turchie, a former deputy assistant director of the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division, told Fox News that “people don’t change because they become a fugitive. They tend to try to figure out how they can land in the comfort zone.”
The former G-man, who retired from the bureau in 2001, directed the task force that identified and collared “Unabomber” Theodore Kaczynski and took part in the search for Olympic Park bomber Eric Rudolph in North Carolina.

I remember when I was a kid some famous criminal from the USA ended up on a kibbutz in Israel. They were an accepting lot and didn’t question a hard worker.
Anyway, he worked and married and had kids there for 30 or 40 years or something. Always had extra money on hand when people needed it.

And sadly enough, some member of the perps family who likely didn’t get the same attention from Mommy as the perp did.
Anyone and everyone assuring us that they know what happened based on the way the FIB acted or the way that the victim acted or video or or or.
Then, they move on to assuring us where the perp will be found and who is helping them and where they went and when they went there. Next comes the “absolutely dead sure I saw him” interviews.
But here is the thing. They don’t know what happened, they don’t know where the perp is. If they did, the perp would already be in jail.
This must have been what it was like when the news papers were writing vivid, detailed accounts of the Titanic sinking before the survivors ever hit NYC.
Wasn't it Kaczynski's sister and law who recognized his writings in the Washington Post? - Meaning he didn't identify anyone; Kaczynski's family did.
Secondly, didn't they originally try to frame up a security guard for Olympic Park?
I can't wait to hear what this 'expert' comes up with next.
What we need are a lot more ex-FBI officials.

I believe it was Kaczynski’s brother that recognized his hand writing or writing style and called the feds.
It was Kaczynski's own brother that recognized Ted's writing in the published manifesto. For as much as the FBI gets wrong, this is one case they actually did a fairly decent job. Their profile for the Unabomber was quite accurate, and it was the FBI that pushed the media to publish the manifesto precisely because they believed somebody would recognize the writing and turn him in.
“The task Force that identified and collared the Unabomber”? They worked at that for something like 20 years, and then the guy’s brother recognized his handwriting on a letter published by the media and identified him to the FBI. The task Force that had the Unabomber fall into their lap is more like it.
They were at least persistent.

As I recall, after years of the FBI trying without success to find Eric Rudolph a local podunk rookie deputy sheriff found him fishing for food in a dumpster.

I saw an interview with Kaczynski’s brother. He said that after the FIBbies released some letters and stuff to the press the wording and style of writing kept knocking on his brain. He had some of Ted’s old college papers in his attic. He compared the old to new. A few days of soul searching later he call the FIB.
He said he hated to turn his brother in, but what Ted was doing...
He has no regrets other than not being able to save his brother from doing evil.
