Whether you remember them fondly or weren't even alive yet, the 1970s was an interesting decade for the music industry. Who can forget the disco queens and rhinestone cowboys? Flashy rock stars like Elton John and Freddie Mercury filled stadiums, and softer hits from The Carpenters and Tony Orlando and Dawn filled the airwaves. No matter which genre is your favorite, these popular songs will take you back to a time of hippies, fondue parties and leisure suits (and don't forget to check out our guide to unforgettable '60s moments and the hit songs of summer through the years too!).

have a nice day :)
I won’t click through because it’s an MSN link but I did hear Terry Jacks “Seasons In The Sun” on the way home from a beer fest in Westport today and it sounded good to me. Much better than the Top 40 we have today.
1950s===> some quite good music released
1960s===> the greatest music decade
1980s===> some fun songs released
1970s===> Gimme a break! Nothing!
I used to cry when I heard Wildfire. No, I don’t do that anymore. No!
I got as far as ‘Evergreen’ with Streisand before pop-ups took hold. Good memories. I was first a hippie, and then a disco queen, so Donna Summers is dear to my heart there. I took the Carpenters to FSU in 1971 when I was there as a Freshman. Memories, again. Thanks
Westport? Hanging out with the Upper Crust these days,eh! ;-)
Jeremiah was a bullfrog.
We used to sing that song while passing around the Boones Farm.
Dire Straits in the 70s...
You’ve got to be kidding. 70’s rock and R&B is some of the best music ever
Really?
School’s out, Layla, Rebel Rebel, etc...
1970’s - CSN, Yes, Jethro Tull, Kansas, Al Stewart, Southern Rock, Jim Croce
Well, there was Beach Baby by First Class.....
Couldn’t beat Southern Rock as well.
I still choke up a little when I hear Wildfire. Don’t know why, but I just thought of Delta Dawn - haven’t heard that one in a while. I liked America and Seals and Croft. Early 70s stuff wasn’t too bad, but disco sucks.
Yes, with all those BMWs, Mercedes and Lexuses, my lowly Outback was out of place.
They don’t give a damn about any trumpet playing band.
It ain’t what they call rock and roll.
L.A. proved too much for the man.
(sniffle)
Wonder if they were referring to Chicago?

Great song. This is the original and features Duane Allman on Dobro. Later this was covered by Eric Clapner.
