An Amish couple was killed and their eight children were injured after their horse-drawn buggy was hit by a pick-up truck over the weekend....

...KIRO 7 reported that 38-year-old Barbie Esh was pronounced dead at the scene and that her husband, 39-year-old John Esh, died at VCU Medical Center on Monday night. The outlet added that the horse pulling the buggy was euthanized because of the injuries it sustained....

How horrific for the children, but thankfully they are all still alive.

Newsweek previously reported that an 83-year-old Missouri woman rear-ended an Amish buggy in 2018, only months after her involvement in a separate buggy collision. Sadly, however, the first crash resulted in the death of the buggy’s driver, a pregnant 29-year-old woman named Mattie Miller.

When asked if she believed she could continue driving, the Missouri woman said: “I haven’t had time to think about it, I can’t answer that.”

People drive too fast these days; the car was equipped with lights and a sign, but likely that my driver was going too fast.

Oh for heavens sakes, I should’ve proof read this,, it should read the my car driver was going too fast, the Amish horse drawn buggy was equipped with lights and a sign and so i am concluding the person driving the car was going too fast to see this buggy till right up on them.

I had nothing to do with this btw, lol.

Very sad for the families, but once again, I am confused;

ABC affiliate station WSET. The buggy was reportedly fashioned with working headlights and taillights, as well as a “slow-moving vehicle” sign.

KIRO 7 reporter

Why is a SEATTLE CBS station referenced in a WV traffic accident report?

These collisions with Amish buggies happen all too often. There is no excuse other than plain recklessness. They should be prosecuted vigorously until stupid morons learn to respect human life.

We had a situation here in my part of Missouri about a week ago. Amish buggy hit by hit and run driver. The 18 year old female sustained serious injuries (eyes fixed and dilated), her husband sustained injuries but not near as bad as hers. She is pregnant. Last I heard, she is still alive.

Sad.

Very sad. Amish are special. Local drivers need to be very respectful of them.

Doesn’t matter that the driver later returned. He’s going to state prison - thankfully. I hope he gets crushed financially.

Time of day?

The Amish ride late into the evening. The roads are typically narrow, hilly, and the buggies can appear out of nowhere like shadows.

People today drive too fast and too close. I not only have to watch out for people tailgating me at 75 miles an hour, but the idiots in front of me also tailgating the car in front of them. There is almost no time for reaction so I have to give them a wide berth. I imagine a horse pulling a buggy can act a lot more unpredictability compared to a motorized vehicle.

I lived in Lancaster for a time....this happens more times than people might think. The Amish have all sorts of lights and warnings on their buggies but this still happens.

I feel for the kids, and the horse.

Their animals are often treated very harshly if they aren’t killed off at birth or shortly thereafter.

They never read proverbs 12 about how you can tell what kind of a person is by how they treat their animals.

Sometimes the horses spook and run, pulling the buggy into traffic. I’ve seen it many times.

My prayers are sent for the entire family and community.

Don’t forget people texting and driving. I have an 18 min commute and I see drivers tailing me witb their head and eyes down the whole time. I was tboned earlier this year by a 24 yr old DACA texter.
We have a large Amish community (in the true sense of the word) here and these collisions happen all the time.
