I have done that too, with paper wads in cap and ball revolvers for blanks. You know when you’re loading a round ball into the chamber on top of the powder.

I wonder what percentage of period pieces are even using black powder. OSHA probably has a fit if it’s discharged indoors, and the smoke it produces could be bad for the visuals of cinematography.
