Judge issues injunction blocking Wisconsin fall wolf hunt

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A judge has granted a request from wildlife advocacy groups and blocked Wisconsin’s fall wolf hunt two weeks before hunters were set to take to the woods. Dane County Circuit Judge Jacob Frost issued a temporary injunction Friday halting the season, which was set to begin Nov. 6. The order comes as part of a lawsuit wildlife advocacy groups filed in August seeking to stop the hunt and invalidate a state law authorizing annual seasons. The groups sued after the Department of Natural Resources board brushed aside calls to cancel the fall season after hunters exceeded their kill limit by nearly 100 wolves during a court-ordered February season.

Sounds like another example of black robes legislating from the bench.

Aren’t wolves...dangerous?

“...after hunters exceeded their kill limit by nearly 100 wolves...”

Splitting hairs, here. Between 80-100 (I forget exact #) wolf tags are set aside for the Native Americans to hunt, though they never hunt them so it was basically a wash and hunters stayed within the limits.

But, I guess they lost this round on a technicality.

I wonder how many of these ‘animal activists’ who live in and around ‘The People’s Republic of Madiston’ and only see SQUIRRELS from their apartment windows, have lost their house pets and livestock to wolves?

I’m willing to venture, NONE.

Not as dangerous as liberal judges. Time to re-open liberal hunting season. (There are at least two good Bloom County strips on this, but I can’t figure out how to post them.)

I wonder if the judge would keep the same view if a pack of wolves ate his granddaughter?

He’s more likely to eat your grand daughter.

There’s a story about this that doesn’t end well for the wolf in a robe. Somebody should axe the judge . . . if he is familiar with it.

1. I’m sure the dairy farmers will applaud this move

2. Diana, my sister works for the WI DNR. I’ll have to ask her about this.

But then again, she hates hunting. I said to her, “Have you ever eaten meat from the grocery store in styrofoam trays?”

At least animals caught in the wild, if they are lucky enough get a good hunter (no, Biden’s son is probably not a good shot), have a quick death.

Unlike the cattle raised in captivity.

To me, anyone who eats meat and complains about hunting is a hypocrite.

I think the Humane Society of the United States is one of the groups behind the ban. If I'm not mistaken, they got a Fed Judge to ban dove hunting here in Michigan a number of years back......

All the donations they get from people thinking they are saving innocent little kittens and puppies go to their lawyers suing the states' to stop hunting practices.....

If you actually live where this matters you don’t care about the basis any more than the dictat.

“The order comes as part of a lawsuit wildlife advocacy groups filed in August seeking to stop the hunt and invalidate a state law authorizing annual seasons”

So maybe there will be a wolf overpopulation and when looking for food backyard pets and maybe kids will be their targets. Kinda reminds me of California bowing to environmentalists and letting the forests go untouched until the state burns down. Now the environmentalists are pushing to ban fossil fuels to “save the planet”. Don’t expect them to give up their Hummers.

I lived in Wisconsin for twelve years. There are so many deer killed or injured by highway vehicles that wolves and coyotes have an all you can eat buffet. I had a large farm with sheep. The wolves left them alone. They used their water troughs a lot in the hot summer. My herding dogs would chase them off.

Now eagles were another matter. Eagles pick one sheep, fly onto the back of the sheep and peck the eyes out. With no sight the sheep just stands there blind. The eagle then begins a several days stripping of flesh from the live sheep. Once the sheep dies from shock or sepsis in three days, the eagles pick another fresh sheep.

Eagles are nasty predators and only like to eat live meals. They don't scavenge.

I have personally been stalked by a pack. I have a forester friend who was chased up a tree by a pack. I have seen them rip a farm dog to pieces. I have heard of them chase people down a street in a small town. I talked to farmer who had a big problem with the wolves getting his calves...btw, a lot of those farmers have got donkeys now and donkeys WILL KILL wolves. Told me that they never thought a little bastard of an animal can be that good at protecting their herds. They adopted them from the BLM and agencies who round them up.
I wonder if they’d do as well with wild hogs?
