I rarely am successful with searches. I don't know where I fail. Today I searched for "jab" "prophecy" "is the jab" using title and keywords and nothing came up. Manually I looked and found what I was looking for:Is “the Jab” Prophetic? 11/7/2021, 10:27:19 PM · by Roman_War_Criminal. Where was I wrong?

You can change the Search choice from keyword to title or user or even a Yahoo search. (Never used that one ...)

When in doubt I use a search engine and start with:

“site:www.freerepublic.com” plus whatever I am seeking.

It will often pull stuff up back to the previous database crash in ~2002 or so.

In my experience you must use single words longer than 4 characters too have any hope.

That page defaults to searching article titles.

And no, search won’t work on short words, usually three letters or less are ignored because it would overwork the server. I don’t know if FR is set for three letters or less, four letters or less etc. Most sites do three or less so that, if, and, but, or, etc are ignored because there are millions of instances of those words in the database. The search engine would take hours and give you millions of results if the server didn’t timeout which is likely.

If you had chosen "keyword" and entered prophecy (make sure you get rid of the * as it will default to title if you don't) then you get all articles that have prophecy as a keyword.

For title searches you must have the entire title it appears.

Never uses FR search when looking for a recent article. Never.

Use Ctrl-F.

1. Click Forum to get to the latest articles.
2. Ctrl-F (find).
3. Jab.
4. Look at the articles that have jab in them.When you find what you want - open it.
