Same in the Navy. I’d take a needle any day over those damm things. I remember the guys with blood running down their arms in boot camp.
Those vaccine guns in the Navy felt like a yellow jacket sting about 1 second after they hit you with it. It was a long time ago 1969, but the pain of those bastards stands out in my mind.
