George Clooney said he doesn’t know Alec Baldwin well, doesn’t believe he or anyone else on the set of “Rust” intended “to do anything wrong” and calls the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins “a terrible accident.”
However, Clooney raised new questions about Baldwin’s actions on the set of the low-budget Western, both as the actor handling the gun that killed Hutchins on Oct. 21 and as one of the film’s producers.
In an interview on Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast, the Oscar winner called Hutchins’ death “infuriating,” given strict gun safety protocols put in place on film and TV sets following the deaths of his friends, actors Jon-Erik Hexum and Brandon Lee in 1984 and 1993, respectively.
“Every single time I’m handed a gun on the set — every time — they hand me a gun, I look at it, I open it, I show it to the person I’m pointing it too, I show it to the crew,” Clooney said. “Every single take.”
Clooney, who has worked as an actor and director on film and TV sets for 40 years, continued, “Part of it is because of what happened to Brandon. Everyone does it. Everyone knows” that is the protocol to follow.”

Candace Owens and others also called for Baldwin to be arrested and painted him as more dangerous and culpable than Rittenhouse, who has claimed he killed two people and wounded a third in self-defense.
Authorities in Santa Fe County, New Mexico have not ruled out filing criminal charges against Baldwin or others in Hutchins’ death.

Yeah, it’s not as if, in one of his lifelong intermittent bursts of rage, he pointed the prop gun at someone on the set who he was peeved at, only this time, it was a live round.

Well, George is right here. We don’t have to be like liberals and attack someone for saying the right thing.
this isn’t the first movie Barrwin handled guns, Getaway, Red October, he should be ask: How were guns treated on those sets? now contrast and compare...
Additionally, Clooney says the same thing that other lesser known actors and actresses have said. They check the gun, show it to the person there, show it to the crew, etc. Most people take that ‘tool’ seriously. Baldwin did not.
Any movie where a firearm (real or imagined) is used, there should be a firearm safety course for everyone who will come in contact with the firearm. It’s just common sense. Oh wait, never mind.
I’ve met him at the studio a year ago. He looks horrible in person and kudos to his make up girl.
If the scene on the Rust set called for Baldwin to act out playing Russian roulette does anyone think he wouldn’t have checked that gun thoroughly? Sure he would have. But it wasn’t his life in potential jeopardy so no big deal.

Because they were not actually shooting a scene, this is simple negligent homicide or involuntary manslaughter. It would be if any of us had done it, anyway.

Yep. If he wasn’t one of the “elite” he’d have been arrested by now.
Not a big fan of Clooney, but he seems to at least respect guns and his co-workers enough to follow basic safety rules.
