So two weeks ago, I went on a rant about what I call the “smug fatalism” of rightists whose attitude is essentially to cede the nation, to write off blue America as inevitable (and therefore pointless to oppose), and to retreat to safe towns from which they can whittle away the days freed of the burden of having to work hard enough or be smart enough to counter the left.

I caricatured such people’s views as, “Them blue cities is goin’ ta hell; let ’em! They voted fer it, let ’em suffer. This is what ya git in blue states! Fuck ’em, let ’em rot!”

And whaddya know, just two days later, John Nolte of Breitbart tweeted:

I don’t give a FUCK if Democrat-run cities burn. I live in MAGA country where it’s clean, safe, tolerant, and people of all races live together in harmony. Shithole cities are not my problem. Rage on, morons. You get what you vote for.

I don’t know that the attitude of the rest of us comes into play. Such places are going into the toilet. They are rotting whether we let them or not.

The writer seems to think that we can/should save these places. Can we? He also seems to think that everything is just slowly sliding away. It’s not. We already live in the first Mad Max movie (some moreso than others). This is not the 1970’s; we are not arguing over percentages of capital gains tax rates.

Nothing is going back to normal. Our rulers have destroyed the most prosperous culture ever because of a virus that kills a fraction of a percent of the people who get it. It’s only a matter of how fast it falls apart. The damage is done. It was done on purpose. Now, the question is what will emerge from the ashes. It won’t be the blue cities. They will burn first, and there’s nothing we can do about it.

I think Taki was making the point that, eventually, people get fed up. Much like in CA, it was mentioned that a coalition of Hispanics and Caucasians managed to do away with affirmative action. In a blue state. Red states are failing miserably at such repeals, likely because of, “Weak RINO Complex.” We know how cowardly Republican politicians can be.

Here in Illinois, the state is predominantly red outside of Cook and Sangamon counties. You might find a couple of other blue counties, but they’re rare. The two big ones are the problem, but people in my area are starting to wake up. My county was reliably red until the last decade or so, when it went purple. It was quite a shock.

Now though, people are sick of it, across the aisle. I live near an elementary school, and one fifth grader refused to mask. Most of the community came out to support her.

Provocative article, but I’m not too keen for people to saddle up and and ride into a place like LA county to stop its descent into insane Marxism.

OTOH, he’s correct about individuals banning together, like in LA, where LA County Sheriff, Alex Villanueva, is refusing to carry out the diktats of the BLM sympathizers on the LA county board. He’s protecting the businesses and individuals who voted for him.
