I never cared about that crap when I was a kid and no other kid around me ever said anything at any Christmas about wanting to talk to the president about Santa. I see no hard evidence this is a big deal at all to any kid.
Exactly right. No elected official, much less the President, ever does anything "for the children." Or for anyone else, as far as that goes. Everything, everything that elected officials do is for their own personal political advancement.
