A landing party from the Enterprise is exposed to strange form of radiation which rapidly ages them.

Rapid aging afflicts all six colonists on Gamma Hydra IV and five members of Kirk's six-man landing party - all but Chekov. With the Neutral Zone so close, suspicion falls on the Romulans testing a new weapon, but is it? With time running out, answers are elusive. As Kirk's memory progressively deteriorates, regulations necessitate a competency hearing no one wants - the outcome of which may eventually lead the Enterprise to its destruction with all aboard

Another, excuse the term, prophetic episode of Star Trek TOS.

Spoiler alert, basically at the end of the episode Kirk, Spock, and McCoy, all of whom have aged quickly are talking about theraputics for radiation sickness, and as they discuss, they surmise that Chekoff who was not effected by the radiation, because of the adreniline going through his body at his discovery of a dead body.

The good looking female doctor states that adrenaline had not been used in a long time because it had been replaced by a new therapy.

Well long story short Kirk tskes the first shot, and is cured.

Quite a corrallary to today, with such pharmaceuticals as ivermectin and hydroxycholoquine being dismissed by the medical establishment.

B7 despite the low budget sets and effects definitely had good writing and acting behind it.

Kerr Avon was the best one.

I shelved my TV 20 years ago.

This is the first mention of “Blake’s 7” I’ve seen. (...and I appreciated all “Star Trek” iterations back then...)

Edi Bjorklund - Can Gene Roddenberry Learn From Terry Nation
https://youtu.be/g3xIXemMNII

Edi Bjorklund, an academic research librarian at U of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, gave this talk at a library conference about 1987, and I “illustrated” it for her. The audio is poor and was recorded in her home to give me the timings for the talk. She was a truly wonderful fan of both shows.

Another, excuse the term, prophetic episode of Star Trek TOS.

Don't forget that an incompetent official "with a plan" takes over the ship and makes things worse.

Star Trek was okay in a pulpy fashion until Gene got enough creative control to ruin it with woke PC nonsense. But funny enough its now worse than ever and makes even his stuff look like a classic.

Not gonna lie, this post really confused me. I was a nuclear electronics technician and a reactor operator on the USS Enterprise. There was a whole bunch of radiation issues on the ship. Currently, my thyroid is the size of a golf ball. He he. Totally didn’t realize this was for the show until I clicked on it!

Happy viewing :-)

Rapid aging: https://letterboxd.com/film/old-2021/trailer/

The movie was adapted from a graphic novel so I have no idea whether the authors were influenced at all by the Star Trek premise. I’ve not seen the movie, which is getting mediocre reviews, adding to the now-unending debate about M. Night Shyamalan’s directorial choices. I don’t think the movie is terrible. It might be good casual viewing sometime.

I like the move that Kirk puts on the Romulans (when they’re surrounded due to the Fauchi guy taking temporary command), making them (the Romulans) think he’s going to blow up the Enterprise by saying so on a compromised frequency. Romulans start backing off, the Enterprise kicks it into Warp, and they out of there!!!

Edie WAS a feminist. I do miss her. She once sent me a single-spaced page of all the rules of grammar I obviously didn’t know. I loved it. I told her that I would always break the rules in my writing, but it was important to me to know which rules I was breaking.
