zinc might help that return.
I read that the reason you lose your sense of smell is that your body takes all the zinc which is critical to the sense of smell and uses it to fight covid.

I noticed symptoms on 12/3. Covid positive test on 12/7. Food began to taste weird during that time. My sense of smell was 100% gone and is about 25% back. I can barely smell my cologne. Taste is much better but things still taste weird as of today.
I had it in August and my smell is back by about 75%.

I never lost mine. Within two hours of first symptoms I took horse paste and all symptoms gone within two hours except fatigue. I took it easy for two days and was fine.
Anyone else who had covid have a weird sweet smell for 1-2 days? Like rotten cantaloupe?
I had it and have four positive IgG antibody tests to prove it.

I do take a multivitamin every day that has zinc in it.
Folk remedy - I have heard that sniffing vinegar helps. Not sure why, but a friend who had lost taste and smell kept a small jar of white vinegar and took a whiff several times a day. Said his smell improved quickly and taste a bit later (several days for smell to improve, a little longer for taste)

I have posted about this before - my husband’s home health care nurse lost her sense of smell for about 6 months due to covid. She purchased a ‘smell test kit’ on amazon and within a couple of weeks, her sense of taste and smell slowly started coming back. Here is the link to the one she purchased.
I would have to find the articles, but there is some evidence that using essential oils can help bring it back.
Something to talk to your doc about, if inflammation is still present. If so, maybe treating the inflammation would aid in recovering your sense of smell.
We know a few folks who've lost their sense of smell after a case of CoupFlu. Interestingly, the ones who didn't were all offered early treatment by their docs.
Mine started to return after a couple of months. Everything smelled like vanilla extract. This is not as bad as it sounds, because my 12-year-old son smelled like vanilla extract instead of like filth.
My sense of smell and taste are not back to normal after a year, but the vanilla-universe is occasional now.
May we ask your age and other medical conditions?
Have you tried smelling farts? Those tend to be a true indicator of one’s loss of smell.
My daughter is on her 6th day of covid symptoms, tested positive and all that, and says everything smells like bacon. Could be worse.
My wife and I both caught COVID in early 2020. We both lost our sense of smell when we first caught it. Mine came back within a week. My wife’s never did.
I now have it again, so far my wife does not. This time my sense of smell doesn’t seem to be affected.
I'm on day 16, lost smell & taste day 7, it is gradually returning already.
Seems to be very individual. Same co-worker is trying acupuncture for long COVID with some small successes.

They’ve sucked so many symptoms into Covid. It is standard to lose your sense of smell (and thus also taste) when you are congested. As common as the common cold.
Only symptom I had was loss of taste and smell. Began smelling rotten milk on a Sunday, lost them on Monday , back 100% on Saturday. I took nothing for Covid…. Exc Jameson.
