Software Update
Apple on Wednesday released iOS 15.2.1 and iPadOS 15.2.1 to the public with minor bug fixes and other improvements.
Wesley Hilliard for AppleInsider:
Apple says that the release addresses a HomeKit denial of service issue, a problem where third-party CarPlay apps may lose touch sensitivity, and a bug where Messages may not load photos sent using an iCloud link. The HomeKit DDoS attack was revealed by a researcher on January 1 and could be executed by entering a device name of over 500,000 characters. Devices that tried to load the device name could be placed into a reboot cycle and made unusable
MacDailyNews Take: On our test iPhones and iPads, both iOS 15.2.1 and iPadOS 15.2.1 seem snappy!
If you want on or off the Apple/Mac/iOS Ping List, Freepmail me.
I downloaded both this morning, on my phone and tablet. While I wasn’t having any issues as described, I figured I may as well. I don’t see any privacy issues or any other ones, yet. I’m interested in what anyone might find, it’s possible I may have missed something?
I was just going to make the same comment. How was this discovered? Did somebody examine source code? Or just keep trying longer and longer device names? How weird.
How did you do this? I have a Mac book and need to do this. Thank you.
I just went into my settings -general-software update. I think it said it was for iPhone and iPad, I don’t know if it is available for MacBook. You can try.
Hope this helps. So far I don’t seem to be having any issues, but we shall see…
MacBooks are not running iOS or iPadOS. You don’t need this.
