Norwegian Cruise Line just forced a triple-vaccinated husband and wife to stay inside their cabin without reprieve for four days. And when the ship finally returned to New York, two burly NCL crew members inexplicably continued to prevent the couple’s escape. How is this possible? That’s what the bewildered COVID-negative duo wants to know.
Kelly Cotto and her husband had never taken a cruise before last week’s bizarre experience. But after what they endured aboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s Gem, they likely never will again.
Oooo...a big fat juicy lawsuit is in order.
First thing I would do is change the name of the ship...
Most people don’t realize US laws don’t pertain on the high seas.....or in other countries for that matter.
Shows how spoiled and ignorant some Americans are.
“Buy the ticket, take the ride.”
Roll the dice, take your chances.
Here is hoping a certain someone wasn’t on that cruise with his 9 vaxxes, holier than thou attitude, and general smugness.
It sure is a sticky wicket for his cruising plans.
Hope he “doesn’t” get stuck twiddling his thumbs in his cabin on his next cruise.
;-)
“and fresh sheets “
Giza Dream Sheets, of course.
Roger the Dream Sheets.
Hope they smuggled on their own liquor.
Hell, let the company pay for all the liquor.
Or mutiny.
“Norwegian Cruise Line made us stay inside our cabin for four days! Is this legal?”
folks got to understand that when they sign a contract to transit on a non-US-flagged vessel that’s sailing in international waters, they probably have zero U.S. rights ...
The only cruise line I trust is Viking.
The "GEM" is right now heading back from the Caribbean, after breaking off its 10 day cruise without telling the passengers onboard why they are ending the trip so abruptly.
They should be back in a couple of days.
Expect the press to be there. -Tom
Hard to feel sorry for people buying cruise tickets during these times. Morons
“False imprisonment under the color of law “
exactly what law is operative on a non-US-flagged vessel sailing in international waters?
“Wait a year or 2. Or 3.”
to bend the curve ...
“SUE THE CRUISE LINE FOR FALSE IMPRISONMENT?”
most likely the contract the passengers signed allows the boat captain to do pretty much anything they want except perhaps throw their passengers overboard ... all without a refund ...
Because Democrats are drunk on totalitarianism. I understand regular Germans helping to turn in Jews for transport to death camps more and more every day.
Once they leave the pier, the captain of the ship has absolute authority. Yes, its legal.
I suspect there is more to this story than the Cotto couple reported about their first 24 hours on the ship. Too much alcohol and bad behavior in the casino, bars, or restaurant are possibilities. The story repeatedly drives home “triple vaccinated.” Perhaps the Cottos refused to wear masks where mandatory on the ship. Just a hunch.
Yes. You are at sea on a ship and the Captain is supreme lord over his domain.
You can sue for breach of contract, if it is not covered in the fine print of the contract for passage.
