Just eat what is presented to you by the marketing people at the major food producers. Choose it by the pretty and convenient packaging at the supermarket. You’ll be fine.
Don’t bother to read the ingredients. You won’t know what most of that stuff is anyway. It’s just in there to make it taste better and stay fresh. It won’t hurt you, or your kids. < /s >
If you do read the boring ingredient lists you will notice that almost everything that comes in a package has some form of added sugar, often high fructose corn syrup.

That's an American thing, due to politics and northern climate. In tropical countries, sugar cane is in everything. For health, it doesn't appear to be any better.
