‘Gettr, the social media platform that bills itself as a way to escape Big Tech, actually includes trackers and features from companies like Facebook and Google.’
(LifeSiteNews) — Gettr, the social media app that has enjoyed a brief moment in the sun as a new home for conservative Twitter and Facebook refugees, is being slammed for disingenuous practices and for “falsely claiming to be a ‘free speech’ platform and an alternative to Big Tech.”
The app skyrocketed into national prominence after popular talk show host Joe Rogan migrated to Gettr after his blockbuster New Year’s Eve interview with mRNA pioneer Dr. Robert Malone was censored by Twitter and Google/YouTube after going viral.
“Just in case sh*t over at Twitter gets even dumber, I’m here now as well,” Rogan wrote in his inaugural post on Gettr. “Rejoice!”
Over the next few days, a reported one million people signed up as new Gettr users.
Since then, the site has come under fire.
Rogan quickly regretted aligning with Gettr, blasting the site as “fugazi,” slang for “fake.”
Rogan’s brand new Gettr account had immediately boasted 9 million followers. “It’s not real, though,” Rogan said in a guest appearance on The Tim Dillon Show. “Because Gettr doesn’t even have 9 million people, it’s a lot of f*ckery.”
The site actually has a total of only 4 million users. The 9 million cited on Rogan’s account includes his Twitter followers, a practice that Gettr justifies because it automatically imports Rogan’s tweets.
“They take all my Twitter followers. So my Twitter followers, like 7.8 million? And then they port those over,” Rogan told Dillon. “So I started out with 7.8 million. So whatever I have now, I have like, eight [million], it’s like, really, I have 200,000.”

RE: China. They’re talking about the rich chinese guy that Bannon is buddies with. He was a major investor in gettr and in fact, I think gettr is a rewrite of a project of his.

All those tech widgets and plugins are used for various features. Plug in a url on most social networking websites and it automatically pulls in the title, image and excerpt.
Some tech is for email campaigns and newsletters. Some is to write special urls, those long ones with a long code after a question mark. That’s so they’ll know where a link came from. Email, FB, Twitter etc. It’s a link tracking code so they know where they’re getting the most exposure.
Some tech is for ads.
Some for mobile/device compatibility.
Most of it is harmless but the organizations and websites that are being integrated are mostly leftists. FB, Twitter, Apple, Saleforce, amazon, google. It’s near impossible to avoid if you want modern, interactive functionality.

Question we should ask Rogan is:
“WHO HAS GETTR BANNED?”
I’m primarily a GAB guy, but I support GETTR, Rumble, etc. They are hosted by big tech and have monied investors, and therefore will be comprised in some way, but at least it gets people off twitter and FB. I do hope I see the alternatives get more action for things other than politics in the future, then they’ll have staying power.
Twitter’s stock has fallen significantly since the launch of Gettr. Makes sense that agitators are trying to convince Conservatives that they’re sellouts and grifters.
The Left has no energy since the 2020 steal. They have been forced to become cheerleaders for the billionaires, the Uniparty, and the Deep State....this is the corner that their Trump hatred has caused them to paint themselves into.
So the only thing left for them to do is to try to undermine our energy.
Isn’t funny that conservative platforms are either being denounced or financially stripped of fipunding. Rogan is right, there is Fnckery afoot, but it seems to be by libs like Rogan and others

Gab is good about not censoring. For whatever reason the biggest action appears to be at Telegram. lots of big posters there who were banned from Twitter and such.
Think we’ve held onto long time members pretty well.
Need newbies too. Even though we give many of them a hard time and drive them off the board in which they resort to eating microwaved TV dinner to eventually throw themselves over a bridge.

In my opinion, GAB wanted to be the conservative social media, develop banks etc. GETTR is a competitor and GAB is jealous and badmouthing the new competition. After reading Torba’s rankings, I became less inclined to be impressed by the owner of GAB. Turns me away, disappointing. Supposed to be Christian.

For 99.9% of websites, that tech is fine, aside from fb/google tracking your visitors but people need to know that if you’re logged into google/youtube or fb, they are tracking every website you go to. Probably twitter too. I couldn’t log into twitter on our old ipad mini because the OS is old enough where I can’t install the latest version of the only browsers they allow, Edge, Firefox, Google & Safari. I can’t get a new enough browser to install because the ipad isn’t new enough to install a new OS. Apple loves obsolescence.
I’ve got a few websites/blogs and I don’t have google analytics or any other of that crap but I’m not worried about getting traffic. If I wanted traffic and were trying to make money with the sites, I would have to install stuff like that, have a youtube channel, facebook page etc etc, interconnect them all and work them all in concert with each other. People are spread out on the handful of Big websites so you have to connect with them where they are. Some people are on twitter all day and not on facebook. Some people visa versa and some people just watch random youtube videos all day.
It’s the 0.01% that will be attacked and hacked and denied services because they become big, effective sites for conservatives and alt-right while relying on leftist run tech. There are not enough alternative backing services yet but they’re starting to be developed. Rumble, Locals, Substack, Parler/Gab/Gettr/MeWe/Clouthub and truthsocial soon. It will take time for people on that latter group of social network sites to migrate to the one or two that win their alt-tech war. If that never happens, conservatives will stay splintered.
They need to become more compatible with each other too. I’m on gab/parler/gettr/mewe/clouthub but I don’t get on gab/parler/mewe/clouthub much. I don’t know what happens if you post a gab to parler etc. Will it pull it in with formatting? MeWe is really too closed off for that. Shame because it’s the best facebook replacement. They make you pay $1.99 for a business page yet only logged in people can see it. Lame.
Gettr pulling in your twitter followers for the mere sake of padding the numbers is pretty bogus. It’s not like those twitter followers can post to gettr automatically. They would have to sign up with gettr. I don’t know how gettr is scraping that info.
I would love to see what heavy investment from conservative money working with Jim would look like for FR. But I’m skeptical the platform would survive being mainstream unless Jim was solidly in charge somehow.
