My phone service was cut off by AT&T because that model was not sold originally AT&T branded. So, I got along without for a few weeks.
This actually works. I reverted to “old time” navigation methods, which is a little tougher now that gas stations don’t have maps.
Embrace the adapt. Most of my life I was inaccessible unless in the house, in earshot of the phone - or in the house, at the PC. Even those modern conveniences are not necessities.
I drove for a living for most of my life, so the maps are already in my head.
I never used the computer maps or Garmin supplied by GE.
Paper maps are available online and in book stores. I'd visit friends and with my $7 map I knew more about their town they they did despite living there for four years.
With GPS, people think Point A and Point B. With a map, they look at everything.

A couple years ago we got a Garmin with lifetime updates of maps and traffic. I’ve been trying to use on that instead of Android/Google GPS. It’s pretty good.
My sister and I took it on a TN-to-NY road trip last year and used both it and smart phone GPS. One was more accurate in some instances, and the other was better at other times.
