According to a separate statement issued by the private liberal arts college, at approximately 1: 20 p.m. officers from several departments – including the Virginia State Police, Bridgewater College police, and the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office – responded to a report of an active shooter at the school.
They were notified that two officers had been shot, and the armed suspect had fled the premises.
Students and staff were alerted of the situation and were forced to shelter in place.
After authorities performed a massive search operation, a suspect was apprehended nearly thirty minutes later.
Police say the male shooter has been taken into custody.

Since it is campus officers, I’m wondering if they were armed? Sometimes they’re not.

One was a campus police officer; all of whom appear to be sworn LEO’s and carry sidearms. The other was a “Safety Officer” who are casually uniformed and do not appear to be armed. (see link below)

I saw a photo of him lying on the ground after they captured him…a skinny white guy wearing those navy blue warm-up pants with a white side stripe, no shirt, but he appeared to have something black over his head (a hood?). I
Incidentally, not sure if it’s connected, but they caught a guy in Boulder, CO today who apparently was planning on blowing up a building at UCLA (in CA). Very strange, no information on that guy.
Grad students have done this kind of stuff once or twice before, so that’s a good guess.
This is just incredibly sad.
How awful. Apparently these guys were great pals- one was in the other’s wedding, they worked together for a long time.
May they be at peace, and their families be comforted by God’s grace.
Grad students are usually grad students because no one will hire them for a real job, because they give off a crazy vibe, are generally unstable or are a foreign national.
