He stole $300K out of an $800K advance.

“Among the final prosecution witnesses on Monday was Elizabeth Beier, an executive editor for Daniels’ autobiography. On cross-examination by Avenatti, Beier said only about 40,000 copies of the book were sold, well short of the 150,000 the publisher had expected.

“We lost money on the book,” she said.”

I've always thought that the book deal was a payoff from the Democrats for her to tell her crazy story. They weren't concerned about selling any books.

SO Avenatti took actually a few %age points more than would’ve been his 1/3 fee from a settlement, He used the advance as if it were the adjudicated award from the court. I will bet that was his thinking.
