Yes like RFID tags used in warehousing and manufacturing. A couple of decades back this was being tested laminated into product labels with the intention replacing UPC codes. The tags were exposed to a radio frequency which powered the tag and the tag would send a signal back. Might work out well with all sorts of 5g antennas that will be out there.
