Yet Saget was supposed to have gotten to his feet, shrugged and went to bed.

Yep. Got up, shrugged it off and got into bed after, “damage to the back, the right side, and the front of his skull.”

And they can’t find what he fell against?

Very often people with serious concussions and brain injuries, including strokes, don’t even realize it at the time. They just want to lie down and take a nap.

That’s one of the reasons they tell you to make sure somebody who has suffered this type of accident or incident is awake and talking, and to keep them awake and talking (while you call 911).

He was alone. I think it’s possible that he had a major fall in the shower, which is usually a heavier fall than just tripping over something in the room. Possibly it was just in the bathroom (hard surfaces). But whatever, there was nobody there to make him stay awake or call 911, because he probably felt fine...just sleepy, as his brain swelled.

I know next to nothing about him, but I can’t think of any reason Hillary would have wanted him dead.

My guess for an alternative scenario is that Saget suffered a major fall at the hotel and made his way back to his room or was returned there instead of being taken to the hospital.

With a skull fracture no less. Somebody brained him while he slept.

My grandfather died at 82 from a head wound. He apparently fell, hit his head very badly, picked himself up, cleaned himself up as best he could, went over to the couch, lay down, fell asleep, and died. Apparently, the wounds were so gory and terrible that my uncle, a New York City cop, refused to show the coroner’s photos to my mother or any of the other siblings.

There was no suspicion of foul play.

Head wounds from falls can be very ugly.

His head hitting floor as in tripping or passing out is unlikely. Back, shoulders would hit the floor first. Now falling and hitting edge or corner of marble tabletop is a possible cause, but the article describes trauma to more than one site. And was VC there any blood loss. The scalp injures and bleeds readily.
