AI = don’t use rules to as to an exact reason why something works, just use existing data to give you something that works good enough.

Yep, it’s called pragmatism - the essence of conservatism.
Do what works and what has been shown to work.
It’s OK and desirable to try new ideas and ways of doing things, but do them in a limited and controlled fashion until they are proven to work better than the way they are done now.
Radicalism (the enemy of conservatism) on the other hand wants to throw out the old ways of doing things (because they are not “perfect”) and replace them immediately with untried and unproven wishful thinking.
