Lawmakers urge Biden to ask Congress before sending military to Ukraine

The letter was signed by Reps. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and Warren Davidson (R-Ohio), among others.

Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) shared the letter on Twitter, writing that Biden should “follow the Constitution and the law.”

“The American people deserve to have a say before we become involved in yet another foreign conflict,” DeFazio wrote.

Lawmakers wrote in the Tuesday letter that the War Powers Resolution of 1973 has been abused by previous presidents, but they noted that the act restricted Biden from not only engaging troops in battle but also launching a “pre-emptive strike.”

We shouldn’t be sending troops from the USA...period. Plenty of troops in the neighborhood and let the neighboring countries engage Russia....which isn’t worth it.

I think even the EU is not interested in defending Ukraine.

Russia only wants the Eastern portion so it has a land bridge to Crimea. Russia has no interest on Kiev or the rest of Ukraine. But Biden needs the sensationalism and deflection from his own failures as a leader.

And wouldn’t it be a real win for China if we got engaged in even a low intensity conflict over Ukraine and tied up a lot of our critical assets there while they have their way with Taiwan or even grander adventures while they have the advantage?

Russia has no interest on Kiev or the rest of Ukraine? I wonder. Not arguing with you. Simply saying that Putin’s territorial ambitions might possibly include the entirety of the former Soviet Empire.

My view is that what Putin realistically wants, is just a guarantee that NATO will never station troops in Ukraine, nor ever be a member.

Now of course, occupying Ukraine would be the easiest way to insure it.

Kind of like why Hitler invaded Norway and the Low Countries, he figured if he did, he wouldn’t have to worry about the Brits having bases there.

Can there be some kind of agreement where Putin can trust that NATO wouldn’t go back on their word to never admit Ukraine as a member and stage troops there? That’s the rub.

Now we know why the wag the dog in Ukraine is happening. Brandon and his evil hordes including the mediavomits needed something to blame the inflation and gas prices on! I have never seen so much lying and incredible deception or confusion on the American people faulting Russia and Ukraine for all the suffering we are experiencing. I pray the gullible American people see through all of this BS! But unfortunately half of our countrymen will fall for it. I just hope they have sense enough to remember our misery started the very first day Brandon took office and signed all those 60 executive orders! To this day we don’t even know what the hell he signed. We do know one was to shut down the oil pipelines and corporations. Remember remember remember Americans this doesn’t have nothing to do with Ukraine and Russia.....PERIOD!

Absolutely, we should not send ONE American Soldier to Ukraine.

But if that were to happen, which given the current mood in Washington, it could happen, Congress should be put on record in support/non-support of the move.

I want to see the votes of every single member of Congress and Senate on any move of American Troops into Ukraine, it makes it much easier to vote these people out.

The pajama boys in the Biden cabal who are making policy are getting desperate. Putin has easily outmaneuvered these amateurs. His “peacekeeping” troops have taken over the territory he wanted without a shot being fired. They are now dug in and reinforced. Now if the Ukrainians wish to counterattack and reclaim their territory, they will face Russian combined arms and a punishing attack on their homeland. Biden’s amateurs think that by stationing American troops in that homeland, it will create a tripwire that the Russians won’t go near. That ploy never works.

Face it. The party is over. Putin has achieved what he wanted with no death and destruction. Doubt there will be any significant fighting. There are now facts on the ground that won’t be easy or likely to change.

Now the Chinese are jealous of Putin. Elements within the Chinese communist party and the military are pressuring Xi to act definitively on Taiwan. However, if and only if the Taiwanese are willing to fight and sacrifice ( alone) for their freedom and way of life, Xi knows that a n invasion across 90 miles of open ocean with an army that lacks combat experience, with locally untested ships and planes, is not sure to succeed. The consequences for failure won’t be pleasant for Xi, his family and acolytes.

They’re already trying to tie inflation to Putin’s ‘invasion’, which is a way to tie it to Trump. This is what they will claim.
