Dolly Parton has announced she is pulling out of this year's nominations for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, saying she has not "earned that right."
The music icon who has been elected into the Country Music Hall of Fame explained her decision in a statement posted on her official social media pages Monday, noting she did not want to take votes away from the remaining nominees.
"Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don't feel that I have earned that right. I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out," she wrote.

She's the Queen of Country and she'll be great when she decides to Rock 'N Roll.
Grace and class indeed.
You can’t help but love her!
In other words: “Take This Nom’ and Shove It!”
Thanks very much!
BLM supporter ... no thanks ...
Great, and it was stupid to nominate her in the first place.
No, Dolly is deferring to Rockers, this was a cross genre nomination, a wonderful gesture, but Dolly wants to earn it.
Thanks, glad to see celebrity worship hasnt totally taken over.
Dolly ranks way down there.
Dolly Parton has the moat annoying songs in a rather annoying voice. "9-5", "Islands in the Stream", "I Will Always Love You", "Hard Candy Christmas..."
"Jolene" was a good song but done better by Rhonda Vincent.
I'm sure Dolly is a great person but I am not a big fan of her music at all.
They only nominater her because of her biggest hits.
Subtle and clever.
I, too, love the Country Girls you listed, while pointing out Dolly is one heck of a business woman and has boosted the ENTIRE American Country Music Industry immensely.
No hate here.
Maybe now they can make room for Ted Nugent and Peter Frampton.
And her ability to defy the Law Of Gravity ...
The 70’s- 80’s singer Jackson Brown way that way too.
He wrote some good songs that were covered very nicely by other people, but almost everytime I listened to Jackson himself sing a song that he wrote, I get bored and start nodding off. Vocally speaking, Jackson was the Ed Sheeren of his day. His singing is sort of Drip-Dry as well.
“This might be a controversial post but I do not think Dolly Parton’s music is all that good.”
Well yes it is to me “controversial’. Of the list of great female country singers you posted I go to Patsy Cline, then Ronstadt (crossover) other than Parton, they are honorable mentions
And (seriously) Johnny Rivers.
