If you've seen this ad your ears probably cringe. There has been a modest amount of protesting this ad basically for two reasons.
The ad is a mommy dearest character "mom" who can't be bothered to listen to the grade school band playing out of tune 2001 a space odyssey.
Music teachers are upset, parents are upset, and frankly it makes women look uncaring, not interested in their kids performing, and more interested in me me me.
So it fits our times.
I rate the ad a 1 out of 10. Very annoying.

I thought the ad was mildly amusing. It didn’t “offend” me.
Doesn't offend me, it paints the perfect picture of today's uncaring self centered moms.
When I was young my trombone playing was sooo bad my brother and sis told me to play on the poach so I could annoy the neighbors. I treat all commercials with a half grain of salt.
Same. The ad subtly and cleverly pricks at a bit of a sacred cow and is legitimately (albeit only moderately) funny for having done so.
“I thought the ad was mildly amusing. It didn’t “offend” me.”
I agree. Kids learning to play orchestral instruments is wonderful. Mom “tunes” it out because she probably can’t even play a kazoo or whistle more than a single note, if that. Just like a lot of people.
Nice of them :)
The tune is actually "Also Sprach Zarathustra" (thus spoke Zoroaster), a tone poem composed by Richard Strauss in 1896.
Shocker, the Woman in the Commercial is made to look bad and the worst playing kid is a young black girl on the cello instead of a White Man and White boy respectively.
Though I have to say, while annoying if you are offended by this ad, you seriously need to re-evaluate your life. What parent surrounded by screaming or loud kids hasn’t wished they could zone out somewhere.
Yep, shocker for sure.
I saw it one time and I thought it was hilarious. The kids were terrible. Everyone knows that. No one really wants to hear that noise, either. I have suffered through my share of piano recitals and band concerts. You do not so much enjoy them as endure them.
I don’t know, personally it takes me right back to being in school, playing in band, and all the long terrible sounding practice sessions we all endured. Had any one of us had the option, I’m sure we’d have jumped into the Infinity with the mom.
We have a problem in this country with a war on humor, and this Change.org petition seems like a symptom of that.
Initially, I thought the off-key music was a slam on Infinity being imperfect, and “out of tune”.
Our school must have been full of prodigy's, we never sounded anything close to that bad.
Personally, I'd say their marketing dept. is out of touch and out of tune. But the comments and viewpoints are all interesting.
Will someone start a Change.org petition to compel cable TV not to have the movie “Gladiator” on every damn night?
Ditto. It was just a commercial. It was not a statement that was meant to hurt snowflakes' feelings.
