Los Angeles, CA – A 46-year-old marathon runner died on Sunday after collapsing at the finish line.
Trisha Paddock, a mother of 3, suffered a “major” heart attack at the finish line and died at the hospital after being put on life support
...
Trisha Paddock of Rancho Palos Verdes was running in the 13.1-mile Charity Challenge where all participants were fundraising for one of the race’s official charities.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel met with Paddock at 12:10 p.m. Sunday due to a medical complaint that escalated to a cardiac arrest, LAFD Capt. Erik Scott said Sunday.
“Medical aid was quickly provided by over a dozen personnel, including LAFD Cycle Teams, and the patient was rapidly treated and transported to a local hospital,” Scott said.
SAFE AND EFFECTIVE!!!
Yes, running is “safe and effective” for good health, despite the occasional heart attack some runners have.
Jim Fixx comes to mind.
fauxci comes to mind!
The vax clot shot comes to mind.
This is something marathon runners already know well.

Fixx’s family had heart trouble, so that is what happened to him.
This happened at a Corporate Challenge run I participated in many years ago. A guy in his forties, who was an avid runner, died in mid-stride near the end of a 5k race. Just went down face first and never moved. Probably had a congenital heart defect.
My boss retired with a hugh pension, went on his usual jog the following day and died from a heart attack on the pathway.
Well he died with his running shoes on, not in some old folks home.
Enlarged aorta can burst and produce that outcome.
Half right is about as close as Gateway Pundit ever gets. 13.1 miles is a half marathon.
To be fair, the headline did not say that she was running a marathon, but that she was a “marathon runner” (someone who runs marathons). Headline was accurate, but definitely could have been written better.
Interesting that it was at the finish line. As though maybe she actually held it off and then when she relaxed the dam burst.
Poor guy. Lots of guys croak within a year of retirement, but the very next day? How horrible.
Maybe he couldn’t take the sudden cessation of work stress?
“Enlarged aorta can burst and produce that outcome.”
That makes sense. He went straight down, face first. He was ahead of me by about 15 - 20 yards, and I just thought he tripped, and my first thought was: “That guy’s going to have some scrapes.” I ran past him, as did a lot of other people, and at the finish line (which was only about 50 yards from where he went down) I turned around to look for a teammate, and I saw EMTs already converging on the guy. There are usually EMTs near the finish line.
Was she a democrat?
I will wait on vaxx status before tut-tutting.
But it’s like guessing if the airport brawl is caused by the “usual suspects”. You just KNOW the answer.
I knew a guy who died like that at 32. He was very fit, ran several miles a day, and died instantly on his morning run one day. I heard it was a brain aneurysm.
