To boot, mean old Russia might well set the “great reset” back a ways. Who knows?
War isn’t over yet.
Way too early to call a winner.
“demonstrated Russian military prowess” seems to be a bit of an overstatement.
I suspect, when the dust settles, it’ll indeed be viewed this way.
Ritter knows whereof he speaks re: false claims to promote going to war having been in the thick of the false claims to ramp up support for the Iraq invasion. We’ve seen this movie before.
This war will go down in history as a strategic Russian victory.
***Not so far, but there’s still plenty of strategic room for Russia to maneuver.
Russia will have halted NATO expansion,
***That’s bullsnot 🐂💩. NATO is growing because countries WANT to join, not because there’s some overweening strategic aim against Russia.
destroyed a dangerous den of Nazi ideology in Ukraine,
***Wow, this guy really is buying into the Russian propaganda.
redefined European security by undermining NATO,
***Yeah, he got that right. But the way he is redefining security is the way he violated the Budapest Agreement. The Ukes HONORED it, relinquished their nukes; the Rukes VIOLATED it, invading twice; and the US is as busy as a 1 armed paperhanger trying to find ways to ABROGATE it because they’re so afraid of pootypoot’s threats.
and demonstrated Russian military prowess, an important deterrent.
***Well. That’s ONE way of looking at it. Some of us have tried very hard to look at both sides of the military situation, wading through the propoganda, starting at the point where both sides agree. For instance, these guys at Oryx seem to be after facts on both sides, not just on this conflict but others as well.

Ritter is an ossified turd, looking for some attention as he becomes yesterday’s news.
Half right, all wrong. Still spewing agitprop.
Boring.
No true Scotsman would say that.
I’m soooo worried about that “dangerous den of nazi ideology” /s A lot more worried about the real covid nazis and globalism, thanks
Ritter is no longer relevant. It matters nought what he says.
Also, for #18, you clearly have the proper sense of humor that fits in on FR. ;)
you should STILL be inn prison...
Go MOLEST some UNDER AGE GIRLS, Creep!
I think the myth of Russian military prowess has been pretty much busted in the past 30 days.
‘Prowess’ may not be the appropriate word.
“Russia will have halted NATO expansion”
NATO hasn’t admitted a new member since 2004.
Anyone can apply, but admission to NATO requires 100% agreement and vote of current member nations.
Ukraine did go through the NATO “MAP” process, but didn’t apply for NATO membership until after Russia took Crimea and orchestrated the offensive in Donbas.
Those actions roughly doubled the percentage of Ukrainian’s desiring NATO membership to give/take 70%, or similar to the percentage who voted for Zelensky’s anti-foreign destabilization corruption strategies long being used in Ukraine.
During the formal SSR cold war, the distance between the USSR and NATO was literally inches to about 150’ft.
And the Warsaw Pact were subordinate, enslaved, and crushed by Moscow, while their geography was the staging ground for multiple bloodbaths, staging for roughly 250,000 pieces of armor and artillery, and included many of Moscows 55,000 nuclear warheads.
These former Warsaw Pact countries had no choice, as it was decided at Yalta (WWII), these would be gifted to Stalin, ultimately by team Roosevelt.
Ukraine’s NATO desperation has been rejected by several NATO nations.
Thus is an important point.
Ironically, if and when the Russian Federation and its subordinate CIS takes Ukraine back, it is actually Russia which will have eliminated such a large Ukrainian buffer zone with NATO, pushing subordinate CIS jurisdiction right up against NATO, as UA has long been rejected by NATO members, precisely to keep the Texas sized buffer.
It’s not that NATO members hate UA, but more they are really concerned about Moscows large 9 member, 22.5 Million sq km CIS, and its Beijing axis.
WHEN one becomes literate to how NATO admits members, and has formally rejected UA, the UA buffer still goes away, but actually due to Putin, not NATO.
Anyone remember Clinton’s War in Bosnia?
This one too will be forgotten as the only thing it did was take the focus off Biden.
