Bob Saget was confusingly left out of the “in memoriam” at the 2022 Oscars on Sunday, sparking outrage from fans angry to see the snub.

Saget himself was an Oscar winner, scoring a student Academy Award in 1977 for his black-and-white documentary, “Through Adam’s Eyes.”

Twitter was quick to point out the Academy’s glaring omission in its special segment to honor those we lost in the past year.

“Rioting because Bob Saget wasn’t in the In Memoriam portion of the #Oscars,” one fan pointed out.

“No but seriously, why wasn’t Bob Saget in the memoriam?” added another.

“Cancel the #oscars for not mentioning Bob Saget in the Memoriam,” chimed in another.

The “Full House” star and comedian was found dead in a hotel room in January. He was 65.

Was he ever in many movies?

He was a TV star, I assume he would get included for the Emmys.

Bob saget blocked me once after I called him out for tweeting all lives matter once https://t.co/V6xe4Ufm92— Champagne Zaddy (@Fam_BruH2) August 11, 2021

Bob Saget deleted his All Lives Matter tweet and then quoted MLK.— Helluva Bottom Carter (@nicju) July 10, 2016

I support you @bobsaget. All lives matter and one single race shouldn't be singled out. Though I support BLM.— Tony (@ree_ohs) July 10, 2016

Bob Saget hit us with the All Lives Matter not too long ago. Don't let them hip hop tweets fool you 👎🏾— podcast poodles 🐩 (@99sAndThe2000s) March 4, 2017

Search Bob Saget. His mentions are getting destroyed after he tweeted All Lives Matter and deleted it. 🍿🍿— Nicholas Richardson (@Slicknickshady) July 10, 2016

.@bobsaget you said all lives matter. Then you took it back. In what kind of world would you feel like you would have to take it back?— Daniel Joseph🇺🇸 (@DanielJosephhhh) July 10, 2016

#4: "Oscars producer Will Packer"

Uh huh. That explains it alright. The left tail of the Bell Curve combined with "affirmative action" are a losing combination.

Maybe the producers thought it was too sad a topic to bring up tonight, and would be a drag on the program, what with all those awards that were scheduled to be handed out.

I agree and they will likely address it that way “star is associated with tv, etc” to avoid it. Sometimes, however, they will do it to avoid mentioning stars who commit suicide or have problematic deaths (Brad Renfro was famously snubbed by the Oscar tribute). I’ve seen the emmy’s likewise ignore deceased actors.

Was he not woke enough for the televised version?

In 2010, they left out Farrah Fawcett but had Wacko Jacko, both died on the same day in 2009; both major stars who also did a movie or several (Farrah did more than MJ).

They always have an “In Memoriam,” feature showing people, often unknowns, associated with the film industry. Actors, directors, editors, producers etc. They always leave out someone important or beloved.

The ‘unknown’ cameramen or screenwriters can be politely rushed through. Perhaps not many folks still remember them.
Bob Saget could never be rushed through. Too many remember him or at very least, they know of and perhaps grew up with The Twins. People would want to say their piece behind the Mike.

Oscars producer Will Packer

Oscar producers aren't autocrats. The show -- the presenters, the Memoriams, entertainment, etc. -- are determined by many people. The Academy board of directors, lobbyists, pressure from top agents and managers, the network executives airing the show, even advertisers have some say.

Packer likely had a say, but not the sole -- or even most important -- say in who was included in the Memoriam.
