Ricky Gervais is giving fans a sneak peek at how he would have opened the show if he had been asked to host the 94th Academy Awards.
“I’d start with ‘Hello, I hope this show helps cheer up the ordinary people watching at home,'” he tweeted, responding to a fan who said they wished he was hosting. “‘If you’re unemployed for example, take some comfort in the fact that even if you had a job, your salary probably wouldn’t be as much as the goody bag all the actors have just been given.'”
Gervais was taking a swipe at this year’s six-figure Oscars swag bag, which reportedly was valued at just over $137,000 and included a voucher for $12,000 worth of liposuction and a stay at a Scottish castle....
“‘I’m proud to announce that this is the most diverse and progressive Oscars ever,'” he added. “‘Looking out, I see people from all walks of life. Every demographic under the sun. Except poor people, obviously. F— them.'”...

they'll make sure that never happens again
The last sane person in Hollyweird......................
He should record it with a backdrop like he is really there. I wouldn’t mind watching him do one each year.
If I could flip a switch to make it happen the insane leftist demon would keel over.
Best Oscar speech ever by gervais right here - https://twitter.com/bennyjohnson/status/1508205780499107851
P.S. He says he’d love to do an Oscars ceremony and would do it for free, but only if they gave him carte blanche, like the Golden Globes. Not likely.
Well ... my suspicion is that the sane people in the film industry are (1) tired of getting bullied and tired of keeping their heads down to stay out of the line of fire; (2) fearful of the monster that has been unleashed; (3) fully aware that wokeness is box office poison that the industry can't afford, as it is struggling to avoid being eaten entirely by the streamers; and (4) whispering to each other about how to reclaim the middle and draw more people back into the theaters. Politics aside, movie people want to keep making movies and they know they can't do that if people don't show up. Television is not the same thing.
Someone will pop up soon to rain anathemas on "Hollywood" as a den of iniquity. Fair enough, up to a point. But the truth is that the raunchiest stuff today is mostly on tv. There is less nudity and sex in theatrical movies today than there was 20 years ago; it's mostly migrated to the streamers, which saw their status as subscription-based platforms as carte blanche to venture down porn alley. Shunning theatrical movies to watch the streamers is rewarding the worst offenders.
I would love to see a serious piece on this, but my sneaking suspicion is that the late surge in support for CODA was, at least in part, pushback from sane people in the industry who recognize that a change in course is urgently needed. Of the ten films nominated for Best Picture, only could be considered woke agenda movies. The other eight are all reasonably mainstream. CODA was the clear leader in the non-woke category. I also suspect that The Power of the Dog, which spent much of the year as the supposed frontrunner, was hurt by the over-the-top adulation it received from the gay cheering section. I have to believe that at least some voters were thinking strategically. We'll see how it plays out from here.
“Ricky” = sadistic POS
And yet they continue with their hypocrisy, oblivious to any criticism because they know they’re better than us.
That one in 2020 was awesome. Loved watching Tom Hanks give.his disgusted look reactions.
With all the stuff that Ricky dished out to people, no one ever got up and hit him.
The Will Smith/Chris Rock thing was so fake.
I follow Barstool sports on Instagram and they stated that one of the directives of Scientology is to slap people who have offended them. Going to see if I can find more info on this.
This was a jaw-dropper from the article at the link:
“We get calls from about 25% to 30% of the nominees each year who want to make sure we know where to get their bag to them,” [swag bag vendor] Lash Fary tells CNBC.“I am mailing them to Olivia Colman and Judi Dench at their homes in the UK, and Penelope Cruz wanted hers shipped to Madrid,” Fary says. “It’s incredibly expensive, so I try not to ship them if I don’t have to, but I will for the Penelope Cruzes of the world, that’s for sure.”
I read this Oscars was the second least watched Oscars ever.
Yes, but only because Social Media lit up and people began tuning in to see what was going on, else it would have been numero uno................
