I did like Sidney Poitier in "The Bedford Incident" ...

Poitier's talents were fully displayed in Sneakers, a movie with an eclectic cast of notable characters.

read the book (by Mark Rascovich), which will highlight the low quality of the movie itself...a highly significant plot point in the book was torched in favor of a more conventional and listless climax that any schoolboy could dream up...

as for the actors, not once when I read the book did I picture Munceford as a black, and while Widmark did make a decent Captain Finlander, a core character trait of his that triggered the ‘incident’ itself was watered down by the lousy script rework...
