AUGUSTA — Add a major championship - a Masters championship - to Scottie Scheffler’s fast-growing list of accomplishments.

Scheffler won the 2022 Masters on Sunday by holding off all would-be challengers in the final round at Augusta National Golf Club. Scheffler, who took the No. 1 world golf ranking with three victories in five tournaments this year, finished at 10-under par 278. (69-67-71-71). The 25-year old was playing in just his third Masters after tying for 19th and 18th the past two years.

With his first major championship, Scheffler can make lifetime reservations for Augusta each April. And add a green jacket to his wardrobe.

His Father told him that he’s more proud of the man he has become than his abilities on the golf course. He obviously is a very religious man - taking part in tour bible studies. His family was so visibly proud of him after the round. His wife (HS sweetheart) is absolutely adorable.

What’s not to love? Congratulations Scottie.

Scottie’s a good champion, but the highlight of the day had to be McIlroy’s and Morikawa’s back-to-back, nearly identical, chip-ins from the bunker on 18. Unreal.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

As long as he gives up his first amendment rights the hypocrital PGA putz’s will welcome him.

How did Phil Mickelson do this weekend?

Dude just won $2.7 million. Not counting what extra endorsements are heading his way.

If Scottie continues in the zone he has been in since February; at least for the PGA, It’s Scheffler’s world, the rest of the best golfers in the world are just living in it!

I just wonder how different things would have been if Scottie had not made the chip in early in the round? I don’t think it would have been quite the cakewalk, but what an impressive win.

During the broadcast I was congratulating my dog for his amazing performance at the latest dog show—47th place.

I gave him a standing ovation.

;-)

Congratulations Scottie Scheffler! His performance was .... masterful. Despite a little hiccup on the 72nd hole. I was hoping Rory McIlroy would pull off a miracle finish but even a 64 - one off the course record - wasn’t enough. He had too much ground to make up.

On a general note, these guys are so good now. They hit it so far and the short games they have ... unbelievable. Can’t wait for the PGA Championship.

That was incredible. Back-to-back hole-outs from the bunker.

Inexplicably - IMHO - Mickelson did not even play. I don't know if he is going to play the PGA Championship next month where he is the defending champ.

Winning a major is a license to print money. Guaranteed entry in the next five US Opens, British Opens, and PGA Championships as well as a lifetime exemption at Augusta. And a five-year exemption on the Tour even if he never wins again in that time (although I doubt that will be an issue for him barring injury). Now he'll get appearance fees too at unofficial events. And will always be introduced as '2022 Masters Champion Scottie Scheffler'. This was his fourth win already in the last two months; he's probably amassed over $10M in prize money alone. And it's only April.
