The University of Wisconsin campus is mourning the death of a beloved track and cross country star.
Sarah Shulze, 21, died by suicide on April 13, her family announced.
“Balancing athletics, academics and the demands of every day life overwhelmed her in a single, desperate moment,” Shulze’s family said. “Like you, we are shocked and grief stricken while holding on tightly to all that Sarah was.”
The California-born runner was a junior and member of the cross country, indoor track and outdoor track teams at the University of Wisconsin.
Wisconsin officials released a statement Friday regarding the beloved student, who was described as a gentle soul and decorated student-athlete.
She earned academic all-Big Ten honors in 2020 and 2021 for cross country and in 2021 while running at Wisconsin.

Vigorous physical activity is an antidote for chronic depression. I know, from watching a long-ago girlfriend.
No, not THAT! But the only way she could be happy for a few hours was a day of ferocious tennis or a 5K run.
And the family will start a foundation for wimmins rights. Great.
Those vaccines killing everyone.
I’m betting that there were boyfriend issues. Sad.
Unfortunately she had a father that was a monster by the way he was constantly yelling at her and berating her if her time wasn't up to his expectation.
By the time she reached high school, he had burned her out and she quit running. Unfortunately he turned his attention to her younger sister and started the cycle all over....
How true, behind closed doors many factors to consider if there are any. We all know parents who are obsessed with making their child a prodigy due to their own failures in life as well as being the proud parent of a phenom they helped to create. A lot of sick people out there, many disturbing events in sporting events my children where involved with growing up flooded my mind as I write this. We all know some.
We don’t know that she really died of suicide.
Without seeing the autopsy report, we have no idea whether or not authorities are lying.
And I’d really like to see that autopsy report.
My daughter is a good runner and runs for the local university. We Never! Put pressure on her, always support her win or lose and tell her to enjoy the ride. Sickens me when I hear if overbearing parents...
“Vigorous physical activity is an antidote for chronic depression”
Chronic physical activity is a manifestation of depression. Chronic physical activity often leads to injury, which requires rest and recovery, which leads to depression.
It might be an uphill battle trying to convince a chronically depressed person that everything in moderation (including intensity of workouts) would be a healthier lifestyle choice. The Chronically depressed seldom listen to good advice.
So what’s the affordable alternative? Drug therapy? Anti depressants upon anti depressants? Apparantly that has only limited success.
RIP, young lady.
VAX.
Could be her performance suffered and that was her whole life.
Could simply be she wasn’t the happy girl that everyone thought she was.
Sure you do. The family has a website setup, where THEY wrote she died of suicide.
Let’s see the ME’s report.
BTW, if she had an adverse reaction to a vaxx and was told she’d never be able to compete again and then committed suicide, is Deep State off the hook...?
Re: 13 - You either believe the family or you do not as to her dying by suicide.
Writing VAX is what it is - ignorant and lazy.
What you want is pretty irrelevant in all this.
However, if you insist, why not email the family at the website and ask them?
Otherwise, all you’re doing is a bunch of jackassin’.
Dude, I’m not the one making assumptions.
